It's not every day you get a lovely write-up in the local press, and we're feeling rather proud!

But the truth is, a pub is only ever as good as the people who fill it.

To our incredible team, past and present, thank you for all your hard work, your personalities, and for making The GyG what it is.

And to our wonderful customers, whether you're one of our familiar faces, or are visiting us for the very first time, thank you for your continued support.

We're incredibly lucky to have such a special little pub, in such a special village, surrounded by such lovely people.

A NIGHT IN LOGROÑO
Inspired by Rob & Sam's trip to Rioja!
Some holidays are just too good not to share!
After a wonderful trip (courtesy of Fine Wines Direct) to Logroño in the heart of Spain's Rioja region, we came home with some fantastic memories, a new appreciation for Spanish wines and, most importantly, a serious obsession with the incredible food!
So, we thought… why not bring a little bit of Logroño to The GyG?
Join us on Thursday 12th November at 7pm for a very special evening inspired by the bustling tapas bars of Calle del Laurel.
Five courses of delicious Spanish-inspired dishes, featuring some of our favourite discoveries from the trip with paired wines from the wonderful Marqués de Cáceres winery in Rioja.
Expect bold flavours, fabulous wines, a few dishes you might not have tried before and a proper taste of Spain.

After a cold, crisp morning! Something warming!

Our Walker's Lunch was made for days like today!
A mug of delicious Curried Lentil & Coconut Soup, wedge of bread with salty butter, chunk of crumbly cheddar, and a handful of chips.

Whether it's a bustling city centre boozer or a beautiful country inn, a tiny craft ale pub no bigger than a sitting room or the perfect places to warm yourself in front of a cosy open log fire, we are truly spoilt for choice in Wales 👌🍻

WE’RE ON THE HUNT FOR THE BEST PUBS IN WALES 🍺

Episode one took us to The Gwaelod y Garth Inn, a cracking little pub at the foot of Garth Mountain, near Cardiff.

It was absolutely heaving when we arrived, but it still felt warm, friendly and full of character. Inside, it’s dark and moody, with exposed stone, old-looking floors and lots of little details that make it feel like a proper pub.

Outside, Llio was delighted with the hanging baskets. You can tell they’ve actually made an effort to make the whole place look lovely, which goes a long way with her 🌸

There’s a great choice of changing cask ales, craft b**r and local b**r, plus plenty of pub snacks. But the homemade pickled egg was the winner. You hardly see them behind a bar anymore, and Nicky was thrilled.

We didn’t eat this time, but so many people have told us the food is really good, so we’re very keen to return.

Apparently, you can have THREE meats with your Sunday roast, which is practically unheard of. I just hope there’s a Yorkshire pudding with every meat, because Yorkshire puddings should never be limited to beef. I will not be taking questions on this.

They’ll even wrap up your Sunday roast so you can walk up Garth Mountain and eat it at the top. Such a lovely idea.

It’s extremely dog-friendly too, and they even make a Sunday dinner for dogs. Derek will be joining us next time once he hears about that.

A cracking pub, lovely service and definitely somewhere we want to revisit for food.
