We would like to wish Angel GOOD LUCK this weekend as she competes in Portugal in the first ever EUROPEAN SUMMIT CHAMPIONSHIPS 2026 with her cheerleading team. Angel and her team won the bid in their Blackpool competition last year to go to Portugal. Angel has done cheerleading since she was 6 years old and is the second time she has competed abroad the first time was in Disneyland Paris. She competes all over the UK every year but this year her team are ending their season in Portugal.

Penguin’s 🐧

Today we will become scientists! 👩‍🔬 🧪🧫🧑‍🔬

Shall we make a rainbow? 🌈

Today in Penguin’s we have been busy making rainbows mixing water and food colouring and mixing it with cornflour water too allowing the food colouring to bleed and spread through the corn flour further. The children were able to identify different colours and go on to mix the colours together talking about the colours they had gone talking about what they had made and what else they may do. Throughout we spoke about the reaction of the resources and why it was making the colours bleed in the water. The children were fascinated by this and asked the ladies questions too.

The INENT of this activity was to allow the children to experiment and try something new. The ladies IMPLEMENTED this throughout by having a range of coloured waters for the children to use to create their rainbow. The IMPACT of this activity was that the children were able to develop their experimenting skills and also getting creative too.

All in all the children had a busy morning exploring our play dough, and we can’t wait to tell you all about it later! 🥰

Whilst taking part in this activity the children were able to develop in different ways such as:

🌈Physical development🌈

👩‍🔬Communication and language👩‍🔬

🧪Personal, social, emotional development🧪

🧑‍🔬Understanding the world 🧑‍🔬

🧫Expressive arts and design 🧫

*****************
AT HOME 🏡 you could make your own rainbows using crayons or paint! 🎨

REMEMBER to share pictures of all your at home adventures as we would love to see what you have been up to at home as we would love to involve your at home play at nursery to help enhance your play.

Well done everyone! 🥰

Medieval Fort

Today was all about a Medieval Fort. The INTENT came from the interests of CC and TBL as they were building different buildings with the crates outside.

The ladies IMPLEMENTED this by placing different items out so that the children could get to work these were crates, blankets, books, goblets, magazines, rings. EMC was making a banquet of meat, fruit and wine, she was cooking these for Cheryl. Cheryl asked who lived in a fort,SC said a princess and different people. Cheryl explained to the children that these forts were in medieval times and that you can get different buildings such as castles.

The IMPACT showed the children that they could use their skills and imagination to create a fort by using the different objects.

During this activity the areas of learning are :

Personal Social and Emotional Development
Communication and Language
Knowledge and Understanding Of The World

At home you could make different buildings by using recycling cardboard, plastic bottles etc.

Well done 🦉

The world of colour 🌈🤍✨

Today in Ducklings we have been exploring the world of colour, we explored the different colours in the rainbow using a variety of different sensory toys.🌈🤍✨

INTENT🌈
To support our children’s sensory development by introducing different colours through engaging, hands-on experiences. We aimed to encourage curiosity, communication, and early understanding of colour recognition in a fun and stimulating environment. 🌈

IMPLEMENTATION🤍
The children explored a variety of colourful sensory resources, including the light-up board, sensory bottles, transparent shapes, and see-through sensory wands. The children explored how the colours changed and glowed under the lights, shaking and turning the bottles, and looking through the coloured shapes and wands to view the world from different perspectives. The ladies supported learning by naming colours, describing what the children could see, and encouraging exploration through play.🤍

IMPACT✨
The children were highly engaged by the bright colours and sensory effects, showing sustained concentration and curiosity throughout the activity. Many actively reached for and investigated the resources, developing their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. The activity also encouraged early language development as children listened to colour names and descriptive words, while building confidence in exploring new sensory experiences independently. ✨

🌈Physical Development🌈
🤍Communication and Language🤍
✨Personal, Social and Emotional✨
🌈Literacy🌈
🤍Understanding the World🫖🤍

Well Done Ducklings🐥

Stacking and counting🎲🧱

Can you build a tower? What objects can you find? Can we count these?🎲🧱🖍️✏️

Today we have been building and counting different objects! The children took it in turns to build towers, knock them over, and identify and count a range of objects. As we looked at the table and all of the blocks, and other objects laid out, we talked about what we could use to build, what other objects were available, what colour pencils we could see and so much more. We also enjoyed exploring our communication skills, talking about the towers we were building, what they were for, working together to count how many blocks we could add to them and knocking them down! When we looked at the objects the children began identifying a range of objects, such as pine cones, pencils and lollipop sticks, and choosing which ones they would like to use to count and build. The children particularly loved using the reflective blocks to build big towers! We also enjoyed working together to count these items, the ladies helped the children where needed, working on maths and communication skills. We even looked at the numbers written down and the ladies showed us how to write these numbers ourselves! Exploring the blocks, and other items allowed us to develop our physical skills especially our motor skills, by exploring the different blocks and building with these, as well as allowing us to focus on our maths skills, counting the blocks and other objects too.

The INTENT of this activity was to allow the children to develop their mathematical skills, counting different objects and looking at the numbers we used, whilst also developing their motor skills, by building towers up, knocking them down again and much more. The ladies IMPLEMENTED this by providing the children with lots of different objects, number stones and blocks. The IMPACT of this was that the children were able to work on communication and language, asking the ladies for help when they needed it and talking about what they were building, whilst also developing their motor and maths skills too.

All in all we have had lots of fun exploring our maths activity and we can’t wait to tell you all about it later! 🥰

Whilst taking part in this activity the children were able to develop in many different ways such as:

🎲Physical development🎲

🧱Personal, social and emotional development🧱

🎲Communication and language🎲

🧱Understanding the world🧱

🎲Literacy🎲

🧱Mathematics🧱

****************
AT HOME 🏡 you could focus on counting skills and maths, looking at numbers in books or every day examples, further allowing you to enhance this experience and develop your understanding further.

Well done Penguins 🐧

Thursday 11th June 2026

Yesterday saw the Owls do lots of mark making. The INTENT of the learning opportunity was for the Owls to enhance their fine motor skills and to learn about how to position the pencils ✏️ in their hands using the tripod grip. We also talked about which hand feels comfortable when drawing ✍️ either their left or right hand when making their creations.

The ladies IMPLEMENTED this by providing the Owls with lots of resources from coloured pencils and crayons, wallpaper for drawing on as well as some natural loose parts like pinecones, small wooden people and small wooden blocks.

This IMPACTED the children’s learning by them being able to start using their fine motor skills for pencil control as well this helping towards their personal, social and emotional development.

Well done Owls

A box can be many things… What will it be today?📦🎨

What colours can you see? What can we turn the box into?📦🎨🖍️💭

Today we have been decorating a box! The children took it in turns to paint nd draw on the box. As we looked at the box and all of the paints and crayons laid out, we talked about what we could use the box for, what colours we could see and so much more. We also enjoyed exploring our communication skills, talking about what we could turn the box into- some children wanted the box to be a car, a plane, or a spaceship! When we looked at the paint the children began identifying a range of colours and choosing which colours they would like to paint with. The children particularly loved using a range of colours and mixing the, together to see if we could create new colours! We also enjoyed talking about different things the children thought the box could be, allowing the children to create stories and share their own thoughts. We used these observations to discuss this activity even further, singing a variety of songs, such as “5 Little Men” and “Wheels on the Bus”. Exploring the paints, crayons and box allowed us to develop our physical skills especially our fine motor skills, by exploring the paints, brushes and crayons and using all of these, as well as allowing us to communicate our own stories too.

The INTENT of this activity was to allow the children to develop creativity, allowing the children to imagine what different things the box could be and decorate it this way, we shared different stories about what we could do in the box, imagining everything from visiting the moon to going to the shops, whilst also developing their motor skills, using different tools to decorate the box. The ladies IMPLEMENTED this by providing the children with lots of paints, brushes, and crayons, alongside the box. The IMPACT of this was that the children were able to work on communication and language, coming up with lots of creative stories, whilst also developing their motor skills too.

All in all we have had lots of fun being creative and we can’t wait to tell you all about it later! 🥰

Whilst taking part in this activity the children were able to develop in many different ways such as:

🎨Personal, social and emotional development🎨
