Our Holiday House Yorkshire started out as a camping trip in 2016, we were staying in Austwick for the August bank holiday. We enjoyed the area so much we started to look for somewhere to have a permanent bolt hole for weeks and weekends away. That's when we came across Ingleton and One Bell Horse Gate. We fell in love with it at first sight. Over the course of 2017 we sympathetically renovated th

e cottage to what you see today. We hope that everyone who stays with us enjoys the cottage and Ingleton as much as we do!!

Introducing Viaduct View!đźš‚

The Station Inn’s new viewing platform and a front-row seat to one of Yorkshire’s greatest landmarks.

Rising across the landscape just beyond the inn, the Ribblehead Viaduct is a masterpiece of Victorian engineering. Built in the 1870s as part of the legendary Settle to Carlisle Railway, its 24 mighty stone arches have carried trains across the wild Yorkshire Dales for more than 150 years.

Now there’s a new way to take it all in. Grab a drink, find your spot and watch the trains cross a piece of railway history, with one of the best views in the Dales.

If you’re going to call one of Yorkshire’s most dramatic roads “Buttertubs”, you’d better have a decent story behind it.

High between Wensleydale and Swaledale, the road twists across the moors beside a series of deep limestone potholes. The old tale is that farmers heading to market in Hawes lowered their butter into them to keep it cool - whether they actually did or not, the name stuck.

And if this stretch looks vaguely familiar, the Tour de France came charging over here in 2014, with Jens Voigt first across the summit. Quite a transformation for a lonely Dales road supposedly named after somewhere to stash your dairy products.

Just another bit of the real North I’ll happily keep pointing a camera at.
