There’s something rather lovely about an autumn morning in Cartmel. 🍁

A quiet start to the day, a cup of coffee, fresh air outside and the whole of the Lakes waiting to be explored.

One of the things we love about staying at North Lodge is having your own space to slow down and enjoy the morning before heading out for the day.

Perhaps today is a countryside walk.
Perhaps it’s exploring Cartmel.

🚴 Tuesday 13 October — The Tour de France Is Coming to Our Corner of the Lakes!

Something rather special is on the horizon for summer 2027! 💛🚴

The Tour de France is coming to the Lake District, with Stage 2 taking riders from Keswick to Liverpool on Saturday 3 July 2027.

The route will pass through some of our beautiful local landscapes, including Grasmere, Windermere and the Lyth Valley, before continuing through Milnthorpe and Beetham towards Lancashire.

And there's even more reason to get excited about Cartmel!

🏁 From Friday 2 to Sunday 4 July 2027, Cartmel Racecourse is planning Britain's Village du Tour, with live race coverage, food, entertainment and cycling activities.

Whether you're a cycling enthusiast or simply love having an excuse to explore somewhere beautiful, this could be a fantastic opportunity to plan a summer getaway.

Imagine spending your days enjoying the excitement, exploring the South Lakes and discovering Cartmel, then returning to your own comfortable accommodation at the end of the day. ❤️

🍂 Thursday 8 October — The Simple Pleasures of an Autumn Stay

Some of the best days in the Lakes don't need a packed itinerary.

A slow morning, a wander through Cartmel, a little browsing in the village, something delicious for lunch and then out into the countryside to enjoy the autumn colours. 🍁🥾

October is made for taking things at a slower pace — and that's part of the appeal of a few days away.

Cartmel has such a lovely combination of village charm, great food and beautiful countryside, all within easy reach of the wider South Lakes.

October has arrived, and the Lakes are looking pretty special at this time of year. 🍁

Halloween returns to Holker for a spooky end to the month

A candle-lit Halloween experience for those who like their autumn evenings a little more mysterious.

As part of Heritage Open Days, the historic Cartmel Priory Gatehouse will be open from Friday 18th to Sunday 20th September, 11am–4pm — and entry is free! 🌿

Dating back to the 14th century, the Gatehouse is one of the last surviving parts of Cartmel's Augustinian priory and offers a fascinating glimpse into the village's medieval past.

🐄🌿 A great day out in the Cumbrian countryside! 🌿🐑

The Westmorland County Show is taking place today and tomorrow at Crooklands, near Kendal. 🎪

With livestock, horses, rural crafts, local food, trade stands and plenty to see and do, it's a wonderful celebration of farming and the countryside. There’s even a chance to see the Tour de France Grand Départ Trophy as part of the build-up to next year's Grand Départ in Westmorland & Furness! 🚴‍♂️🏆
