This is one of the ancient doors from the formal Elizabethan gardens of Haddon Hall into the wild parkland beyond. Walk through, and you leave behind the flower beds, clipped hedges and striped lawns, entering a world of ancient trees, wildflowers, birds, butterflies and bees. Once the 14th Century deer park for the hall, Haddon Medieval Park is now one of the most ecologically rich and important landscapes in the north of England, undisturbed for centuries.

If you would like to explore Haddon Medieval Park, we have availability on our newly-released guided parkland walks on 9 July and 25 September. These walks of 1-2 miles take you through a variety of different habitats and are led by experienced ecologists and historians. Your ticket also entitles you to half-price admission to Haddon Hall on the same day.
