It used to hold water. Now it holds 20 people, a yoga studio, and an 8-seater wood-fired hot tub. Upgrades have been made.

Coastwatch House is a Grade II listed former water tower on the Suffolk Heritage Coast, and it is, frankly, it is very well equipped for both health retreats and group holidays.

Four ovens. Two dishwashers. A pizza oven, a South African Braai, and a pergola long enough to seat the whole lot of you. It has a dedicated yoga space, and both a heated outdoor pool and a wood-fired hot tub, which should keep everyone happy. The fifth floor is an entire living room with 360° views of the sea and countryside, which does tend to make whatever you’re retreating from feel quite far away.

This is Solomon’s Temple, also known as Grin Low Tower, is a Victorian fortified hill marker at the summit of Grin Low Hill near the spa town of Buxton. At 439 metres above sea level, the views from the top are genuinely not-to-be-missed, and on a clear day (yes, in the Peak District, miracles do happen) you can see all the way to Mam Tor in Castleton and Kinder Scout, the highest point in the Peak District.

The good news? It’s really easy to get to. It’s accessible from Buxton Country Park and close enough to Buxton town centre that you’ve got no excuse, just under a 40 minute walk from Buxton Railway Station. If you fancy a more scenic route, there are woodland trail footpaths leading up from Poole’s Cavern Visitor Centre all the way to the summit. Your legs will hate you. The views will make up for it.
