Just a personal message from me as a business owner.

Behind the scenes, we all push ourselves to the limit. Running a business, dealing with personal commitments, family life, and health challenges can sometimes take its toll.

A week ago, I developed a serious infection in my left leg, which resulted in a trip to Chorley A&E.
Thanks to the swift actions of the incredible staff there, I was admitted to the MAU ward and spent three days on IV antibiotics.
After they felt I was well enough to go home, I was discharged, but unfortunately the infection continued to spread.
The very next day I was back in hospital, where they got me straight back in within an hour. After another three nights, more IV treatment, and plenty of oral antibiotics, I was finally allowed home again.

One disease that often isn’t spoken about enough is diabetes. I’ve lived with Type 1 diabetes for over 30 years, and although my control has generally been good, infections and diabetes can be a difficult combination and can quickly become serious.

I still have another week of antibiotics to complete, and while I won’t be fully back to normal just yet, you may see me around the pub over the next week. I’ll mostly be upstairs with my foot up, resting and recovering, while keeping an eye on things.

I want to say a huge thank you to my family, especially Chris ❀️, everyone at The Hinds Head, and all of you who have sent messages, called, checked in, or offered support. Your kindness has genuinely kept my spirits up during a tough couple of weeks.

Recovery is going well, and I’m looking forward to being back on my feet properly soon.
