This week at Sing and Sign West Cumbria...

Our Babes families have been exploring "repetition" and how using repetition in a baby's world can help keep babies calmer and more content.

Our Stage 1s have focused on "asking for help" and other key signs such as open and shut. Giving your babies the tools to tell you when they are in need of assistance from yourselves and other grown ups in their world.

Our Stage 2s have been continuing their introduction to phonics by looking at the sounds I-P. As part of our surprise bag we play with initial sounds of props to encourage listening for sounds that make up words.

Are you interested in joining us? Have you heard from some of our families how invaluable signing is to your daily routines? Look under special events and add yourself to the waiting list for Autumn term and grab your space today.

Tuesday’s Top Tip 😁 …. Babies LOVE repetition. It helps them feel safe due to the predictability and familiarity that it brings.

🧠 Each time we repeat something, we strengthen the neural connections in their brain. Practicing and incorporating signs and songs into your day so that they become habit, brings huge benefits to your little one’s understanding of language.

🖐️ By consistently repeating key words and highlighting them with signs, you are boosting your little ones understanding of the word/gesture and increasing the likelihood that they will go on themselves to use that predictable and familiar gesture.

🥰 Similarly, attending the same class, with the same predictable pattern, with the same people, and singing and signing the same songs is not only enjoyable to your little one but is also key to their learning of new skills (communication, language and social interaction to name but a few!).

🔑 Repetition can be mundane for us but it is the key to learning for our little ones. So REPEAT, REPEAT, REPEAT - you won’t regret it!

Love from Sing and Sign x

This week at Sing and Sign West Cumbria...

Our Babes families have been exploring "consistency" and "repetition". We discuss how being consistent with routines, words, songs and rhymes helps babies understand what is happening next and therefore keeps babies calmer and more content.

Our Stage 1s have focused on "ouch" and all such useful signs such as medicine, ill, doctor and all better. Giving your babies the tools to tell you when they're in pain and *where* they're in pain is invaluable before speech!

Our Stage 2s have been looking at the sounds A-H as a gentle introduction to phonics. As part of our surprise bag we play with initial sounds of props to encourage listening for sounds that make up words.

Are you interested in joining us? Have you heard from some of our families how invaluable signing is to your daily routines? We still have spaces in some of our venues for the last few weeks of term, so if you want to try a week's trial drop me a message. Alternatively, book your course space here;
