The Rose and Crown Hotel is the oldest hotel in England's oldest town - Colchester. Our Tudor Bar Brasserie is the perfect place to enjoy a delicious meal, either inside by our real log fire or dine alfresco in our beautiful 'Secret Garden'.

A beautiful setting for your first meal as newlyweds, under our 700 year old oak beams.

Can you picture it? Crisp autumn air outside, candlelight and soft, rustic-boho styling inside. And everyone you love in one room.

Huge thanks to KMS Hire - Weddings, Birthdays & Events for this gorgeous setup 🤍

Autumn 2027 dates are going fast. Send us a message to book your viewing.

From ghostly sightings of a woman in black to TVs switching on by themselves, read some of the ghost stories shared by our staff and guests 👇
