One of the simplest pleasures of a North Devon holiday is exploring the fascinating world revealed when the tide goes out.

Down on Combe Martin Beach, the rocky shoreline transforms into a natural treasure hunt, with shallow pools full of marine life waiting to be discovered. Look closely and you'll find tiny crabs scuttling between the rocks, clusters of barnacles clinging to the stone, colourful sea anemones gently swaying beneath the water, and shiny mussels tucked into crevices.

And if you're especially lucky? You might even spot a starfish hiding amongst the rocks. ⭐

Rock pooling is a wonderful activity for families, curious children, and nature-loving adults alike.

We're proud to stock fresh eggs from local supplier Fenton Farm Eggs, a family-run business that shares our passion for quality and sustainability.

Their hens roam freely and are fed a natural vegetarian diet, producing exceptional quality eggs with strong shells, rich golden yolks and wonderful flavour.

I know the beach is there but each time I walk down to the seaside, the view takes my breath away and I cant believe how lucky I am to have made that decision to work here.” 💚

Ever wondered where the name Combe Martin comes from? 🌿

Despite what some people think, it’s nothing to do with our Martin 😄

“Combe” comes from the Old English word cumb, meaning valley which is very fitting for this beautiful part of North Devon. And “Martin” refers to Martin of Tours, who was given ownership of the village by William the Conqueror in late 11th century.
