This might be the cutest case of mistaken identity we've ever seen... 🐔🦆❤️

After duck mum got, well, a little distracted from her nest duties, our determined little bantam hen quietly took over, patiently sitting on the duck eggs for weeks until they hatched.

Now she's proudly raising seven rapidly growing ducklings as if they were her own.

The funniest part? They still try to squeeze underneath their tiny chicken mum for warmth and cuddles, even though they're getting far too big to fit!

She doesn't seem to realise they're ducks... and they certainly don't seem to care that she's a chicken.

Proof that family isn't always about looking the same. 💛

Who else thinks she's earned the title of Mum of the Year? 🥹

This is why.

Because life feels different at a slower pace.
Because time together actually becomes time together.
Because space gives you room to reconnect.

Where children can just be children…and days unfold without much of a plan.

It’s simple, but it’s everything.

This is Coulcott.

“We probably didn’t realise the extent of the work that was needed… but you never do, do you?”

A line from the Devon Life article that felt very accurate.

It has been a journey, but seeing people enjoy Coulscott in the way we hoped they would is what it’s all about.

Inside, it’s all about comfort.

As featured in Devon Life, March 2026.

Big sofas, fires when you need them, space to gather, and little corners to disappear to.

The kind of place where everyone naturally ends up in the same room by the end of the evening.
