Look west Wednesday 12 August for a view of a partial solar eclipse, between 6PM and 8PM. ☀️🌕
The path of totality will run across Spain, which is the first total eclipse for mainland Europe in 27 years! Here in N.Ireland we will see a “deep” partial, where the Moon will block out around 93% of the Sun, with maximum occurring at 7:08PM (local times will vary depending on your location).
Here at OM, we will see the Eclipse getting underway at 6.10PM. However, as the Sun lowers towards the horizon, the surrounding landscape will limit our visibility, you would not be able to see the full two hour event here.
If you are lucky enough to have clear skies, we would encourage you to stay up for the peak of the Perseids Meteor Shower as night falls!🌠
Enjoy two celestial experiences in one day- certainly a magical day to remember and what better place to view the night sky than Northern Ireland's only Dark Sky Park! ✨
⚠️Remember: never look directly at the Sun. When viewing the Eclipse you must protect your eyes and your cameras from damage. Only observe this event by using eclipse glasses, solar equipment, or with a solar filter.
