Virtually unchanged 15th Century pub, well know for its real ale and friendly atmosphere. Retaining many orginal features, such as inglenook fireplaces and quirky rooms, including The Black Room and The Brewhouse. 🍷 W**E WEDNESDAY – A LITTLE BIT OF BORDEAUX! 🍷

We’re opening some rather lovely Bordeaux and offering them by the glass.

🍷 Château Angludet, Margaux – elegant, fragrant, classic Left Bank Bordeaux.
🍷 Château Bonalgue 2018, Pomerol – rich, velvety and wonderfully generous Right Bank Bordeaux.

We’ll be pricing the w**es by the glass based on our take-home bottle prices, so they’ll be terrific value.

And there’ll be nibbles!

I’ll also be reporting back from Davy’s Autumn Tasting, where I met some exciting w**emakers from Spain, Argentina and Austria, including the award-winning Durigutti brothers.

Who knows what new discoveries might find their way onto our shelves?

One red. One white. Two absolutely cracking French w**es. And they’re our cheapest w**es by the glass!

These two are special. So often people order by the grape - Pinot Grigio / Sauv Blanc or Merlot / Malbec. They may be missing out!

🍷 Chemin de la Serre Carignan Vieilles Vignes 2025

Made from old-vine Carignan, this is everything we love about a good southern French red. Rich, generous, full of character, with lovely dark fruit and a touch of spice. A w**e that punches well above its price.

🥂 Chemin de la Serre Marsanne–Viognier 2025

A gorgeous combination of two wonderful white grapes. Marsanne brings richness and texture, while Viognier adds beautiful floral and stone-fruit character. A white with real personality — and a lovely change from the usual suspects.

And here’s the really good bit…

Both are available *by the glass* at The Old Windmill They’re just £25 a bottle to enjoy here - and if you’d rather take one home? Just £15 a bottle!

Great w**e doesn’t have to be expensive. It just has to be great.
