🌊 Stay safe around the coast during stormy weather
Strong winds, large waves and high tides can make our coastline particularly dangerous
during stormy conditions.

Even if the sea looks calm from a distance, this can change very quickly.
⚠️ Keep well back from cliff edges, sea walls, slipways and exposed coastal paths. Heavy rain can cause cliffs and pathways to become unstable, slippery, and prone to sudden landslides.
⚠️ Keep dogs on a lead.
⚠️ Never turn your back on the sea
⚠️ Avoid walking and also taking selfies or photos near rough water. If you can feel sea spray, you are standing too close
⚠️ Check local weather forecasts and tide times before heading out https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/

🚨 If you see someone in difficulty along the coast, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
Please take care and help keep yourself, your family and others safe. 💙
Further information around coastal safety can be found at https://www.iow.gov.uk/article/2233/Coastal-safety
