Another COVID update from The Thatch & Billy Budds…..
The whole of the hospitality industry is on its knees at the moment. Finding staff, especially skilled staff, is near impossible right now and on top of that we now have the new ‘pingdemic’ resulting in us loosing staff every single day to self isolation.
We had to close the whole Croyde site last week leaving staff without hours, disappointing customers and nobody knowing when we could trade again.
With cases locally spirling out of control and an ever reducing team due to isolation we have had to make some drastic changes to our operation.
With the sun set to shine this week we have made the difficult decision to close The Thatch during the day time Monday-Friday and begin service at 5pm.
Billy Budds will have all of its outside space open serving food and drink in the sun from 12-9pm.
When the Thatch is open during the day (12-5pm) we are running a somewhat limited lunch menu.
In the evening we simply do not have the abundance of kitchen staff to produce a large specials board like regular customers might be used to.
We are still so much more fortunate than many others, we have an absolutely amazing team and when we can all work together then life in Croyde is great, but we just felt we needed to give you a little insight into what we are dealing with behind the scenes and why you might find part of our operation closed/limited from time to time over the coming weeks.
Fingers crossed this is just a short term problem.
To all our friends in the industry we feel your pain and we are with you.
