This week my daughters and I have been helping Emma, Rob, Angus and Evalyn at Davochfin Farm, Dornoch to get everything ready for their Pumpkin Patch, opening tomorrow! 🎃🍂

It’s been lovely to be involved and see just how much hard work goes on behind the scenes to bring an event like this together.

If you’re looking for something fun to do over the October holidays, whether you’re local or visiting the area, pop along, pick your own pumpkin and enjoy a little autumn magic!

When I’m not looking after guests at Number 18, I enjoy my work as an author and photographer. I created Winston the Bear for my children’s book, Winston the Bear and the Dragon of the Black Firs, inspired by Dornoch and Highland folklore.

A big thank you to all the little dragon hunters and their parents who came along to meet Winston at Dornoch Bookshop today. It was wonderful to see so many enthusiastic young dragon hunters!

When I’m not looking after guests at Number 18, you’ll often find me behind a camera or with a teddy bear in tow!

I’m a photographer and author, and Winston the Bear is a character I created for my children’s book Winston the Bear and the Dragon of the Black Firs.

I’m really looking forward to being at Dornoch Bookshop this Saturday with Winston for a morning of book reading, dragon hunting adventures, photos, signing books and lots of Winston fun!

And this is only the beginning… there are more Winston adventures in the works, so watch this space!

Ready for some dragon hunting when you visit Dornoch?

If you’re heading to Dornoch with little ones, you might want to check out these adorable mini Winston the Bears available exclusively from Links House at Royal Dornoch.

Winston is the bear from my children’s book, Winston the Bear and the Dragon of the Black Firs, a story set right here in Dornoch, inspired by the places and legend that make our town so special.

Now, little readers can take their very own Winston along while they explore Dornoch, hunt for dragons, and make some Highland memories of their own!

Created by local children’s author Catherine MacCulloch, Winston the Bear and the Dragon of the Black Firs follows a curious little bear as he sets out to uncover the truth behind the tale of a fiery dragon, all set right here in Dornoch.

We’re delighted to celebrate a local author and share a story inspired by the place we call home. Pick up a copy of Winston’s adventure, along with your very own Winston teddy, from Links House reception.

The Dornoch Autumn Highland Festival is taking place from 23rd October to 5th November, with a lovely mix of things happening around the town throughout the festival.
