Most of these fabulous beaches are within easy reach of Fourth Farm. So many of our fabulous guests stay with us due to our close proximity of these less commercial beaches.
9 of our favourite beach days in Yorkshire. For us, the beach isn’t for sitting on and sunbathing, it’s all about the adventure: ship wrecks, fossil hunts, searching for sea glass or shells, exploring and enjoying the views. Plus the fish & chips are a great reward after a day’s adventure.
🏖️ Barmston - a great place for searching for sea glass, sometimes you’ll find fossils and if you’re really lucky there’ll be a seal. Free roadside parking.
🏖️ Ulrome - Skipsea - a great scramble down to the beach and then a walk hunting for sea glass and beach treasure plus a stop at Mr Moos for an ice cream - perfect!
🏖️ Mappleton - a great place to find fossils.
🏖️ Hornsea - a long sweeping beach with a promenade and also the best fish & chips at Whiteheads.
🏖️ Selwicks Bay - after a steep descent there are coves to explore, arches and caves. Plus searching for crabs and fish in the rock pools. (Beach currently not accessible)
🏖️ Thornwick Bay - caves, a tunnel in the archway, rock pools and coasteering.
🏖️ Flamborough North Landing - epic coves, lots of scrambling across rocks, a ship wreck and a smugglers cave.
🏖️ Saltwick Bay - ship wreck and FOSSILS. Lots of fossils.
🏖️ Sandsend - after a slightly precarious descent, fossils, a ship wreck and a lovely walk.
You can find all of the above adventures with detailed parking information on the website by either using the search function and typing in a keyword or there’s a dedicated ‘beaches’ section - see link in comments.
