The East Bergholt Village Fair is the grand finale to the John Constable 250th anniversary celebrations, organised by East Bergholt Parish Council — and it’s all just a 10-minute walk up beautiful Flatford Lane from your lodge 🚶‍♂️🌿

Celebrate Constable 250 in East Bergholt! 🎨🌿

This year is very special — it marks 250 years since the birth of John Constable, the artist who captured the beauty of our village and the surrounding Dedham Vale. Over 200 of his major paintings were inspired by East Bergholt and nearby Flatford Mill — just a 10-minute walk from our eco-friendly Scandinavian lodges 🚶‍♂️

Locally, celebrations are well underway as part of the In Our View programme, with walks, community events and plenty of ways to explore the Constable landscape.

✨ Festival Week (7–14 June) is set to be a real highlight — with lots happening throughout the week, including exciting additional events, national press coverage, all leading up to the huge Village Fair on 14th June 🎉

And it doesn’t stop there — there are events running throughout the summer, so it’s well worth checking the full calendar to see what’s on during your stay 👇

Nationally, the anniversary is being marked with major exhibitions, including at Christchurch Mansion in Ipswich, where The Hay Wain will be displayed in the county it depicts 🖼️
