There's a particular kind of quiet that falls over a room when someone who truly knows meat starts talking about it. Last month, that quiet fell over The Mitre for one very delicious evening.

Richard Robinson opened the night with all the warmth you'd expect from us, before handing the floor to Charlie and the team from HG Walter, who talked us through the finest cuts going. From provenance to heritage. The whole story behind what ends up on the plate. No stiff lecture, mind: questions flew, wine flowed, and more than a few guests swapped their own kitchen war stories along the way. This is exactly the kind of evening we love hosting. Pull up a chair, get stuck in, leave knowing something you didn't before.

The Mitre is a riverside retreat in historic Hampton Court, directly opposite the Palace gates, where heritage and hospitality have always gone hand in hand.
