Planning accommodation for events in Birmingham or Glasgow? Two upcoming changes are worth keeping in mind if you’re organising meetings, conferences or events in either city.

📍 Birmingham: Following a successful ballot, the new Birmingham Accommodation Business Improvement District (ABID) is due to come into effect on 1 April 2027, supporting investment in the city’s visitor economy.
📍 Glasgow: The city’s 5% visitor levy is scheduled to begin on 25 January 2027, applying to overnight accommodation for the full duration of a stay.

For businesses organising events with accommodation, these changes are another reason to plan accommodation requirements carefully, particularly when coordinating larger groups or stays across different locations.

A fantastic evening celebrating the hospitality and events industry at the M&IT Awards 2026! 🥂

A big thank you to LGH Hotels for a wonderful evening at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House on Park Lane. A beautiful setting with delicious food and superb service catering for more than 700 guests on the night.

It was great to catch up with industry colleagues and share a table with some familiar faces, while enjoying an evening hosted by the brilliant Katherine Ryan.

Congratulations to all the Award winners, with a special shout out to Glasgow for winning Best Convention Bureau and the SEC for taking home Best Large Conference Centre. Fantastic recognition for Scotland’s events industry!

Thanks again to everyone involved in making it such a memorable evening.

A lovely evening for a fantastic cause! 👏

On 18 September the ExecSpace team attended the annual Cash for Kids Ball at Prestonfield House in Edinburgh.

The evening highlighted some inspiring stories, all in support of Cash for Kids and its work helping children and families across Edinburgh, the Lothians, Fife and Falkirk.

A London stay that puts you close to the action, without feeling right in the middle of it...

Working with YOTEL in Edinburgh and Glasgow already, our Venue Find & Event Sales Executive Gemma recently stayed at YOTEL London City to review this hotel for customer enquiries. Gemma had a great experience.

Just a five-minute walk from Farringdon Station, the hotel is well located for getting around London, while still offering somewhere to step away from the hustle and bustle after a busy day.

It’s a solid venue to keep in mind for smaller business meetings and workshops, with dedicated meeting hubs for groups of up to 24, and Revolve, the hotel’s all-day bar and dining space where guests can relax, catch up with colleagues or grab a bite to eat, a perfect environment for those less formal corporate gatherings.
