What good book have you recently read? 📖

I'm always keen to hear of any recommendations. I'm currently reading You Are Here by David Nicholls and I am really enjoying it. Other good reads of late for me have been The Wedding People, What a Way to Go, Honey Bee and Hello Beautiful. Join the H&B Book Club! 😁

Meet the Team!

🐾This is Billy, our 5 year old beagle and he is the Customer Happiness Manager at The Hutch and The Burrow. Billy loves everyone. Full stop. We defy you not to smile and feel happy giving Billy a fuss or stroking those silky smooth ears. When he isn't shoving his face into a Scoops doggy ice cream, he will be laser focused on welcoming guests with his waggy tail and soulful eyes.

While we sadly do not allow dogs to stay at The Hutch or The Burrow, plenty of guests (dog owners or not) can't help but be charmed by our two.

Did you know that otters are comedy gold? Butterflies have absolutely stunning colours? And donkeys are just lovely?!

You might have known these facts (our opinions!), but over the last week we have enjoyed some local day trips. The Donkey Sanctuary Sidmouth is always a joy - free entry, beautiful plants, walks around the paddocks, top notch cafe and obviously lovely gentle donkeys in abundance. 35 mins from The H&B.

Otters and Butterflies in Buckfastleigh was new to us and we really enjoyed our visit. Definitely time your visit for feeding times (we saw one at 11.30am) and watch the little and larger otter characters. The butterfly house was hot and tropical, and it was really enjoyable watching them flutter around us, trying to catch a photo. 30 mins from The H&B.

"My husband and I stayed 3 nights at The Hutch. The accommodation was well appointed with everything you could need for a relaxing and comfortable break. Even dressing gowns were provided!

The location was ideally situated being close to Exeter and the edge of Dartmoor. We enjoyed watching the lambs playing in the field and listening to the birds singing. Also a couple of brief visits from one of the resident beagles.

Chloe was the perfect host, replying quickly to messages, checking in during our stay but not at all intrusive.

We would definitely recommend staying at The Hutch and look forward to returning."

Meet the Team!

🐾This is Chester, our 12 year old beagle, who is Head of Security at The Hutch and The Burrow. Chester is our early warning system for when guests arrive, but can often be won over with a bit of attention. If you chose to indulge in alfresco dining or a BBQ while staying with us, you can be sure that beagle nose will sniff out the aromas, and make sure you you have a friend.

Behind the scenes: This is me today, half way through a day of two changeovers, 6 loads of washing and an hour of ironing - when it was 28 degrees. Oh, the glamour! 🤣🥵
