Pudding vs Tart: The Great Bakewell Debate

If you’ve ever wandered through Bakewell, you’ve probably been tempted by not one, but two delicious local legends: the Bakewell Pudding and the Bakewell Tart. But what’s the difference… and which side are you on?

🥄 The Bakewell Pudding: The original star of the show (and let’s be honest, a bit of a diva). Flaky puff pastry, a layer of jam and a gooey almondy custard that’s been winning hearts since the 1800s. Elegant. Mysterious. Slightly unpredictable, just like all good puddings.

🍒 The Bakewell Tart: The Pudding’s cheerful younger cousin. Sweet shortcrust base, jam and a soft frangipane sponge, often topped with icing and a cherry. It’s the Bakewell version of a party hat.

So… are you Team Pudding or Team Tart? Either way, calories don’t count in Bakewell. That’s a rule.
