This is why the beach is worth a visit in winter. No crowds, dark skies, and the kind of night that makes you glad you came out in the cold.

UPDATE: The beach hut has a new name.

Say hello to Time Wells Spent.

With Cromwell Cottage now let long term, the hut has the full attention it deserves, and it felt like the right moment to give it a name of its own.

Nothing else changes. It’s the same Hut 138 on the beach at Wells-next-the-Sea, in the same spot where the pines meet the sand, with the same chairs, windbreaks and kettle waiting for you. Dogs still welcome.

Booking works exactly as before, although new website coming soon...

After several happy years of welcoming guests, we have made the decision to stop holiday lets at Cromwell Cottage. As a listed building, the changes needed to meet current fire regulations for holiday lets could not be made without losing the character that made the cottage special. Rather than compromise it, we have let the cottage on a long-term basis instead. Thank you to everyone who stayed. We loved sharing it with you. Our beach hut at Wells-next-the-Sea carries on as normal, and we will have more news about the hut very soon.

Fun activity if you are in North Norfolk this Easter weekend!

🥚 50 golden eggs will be hidden along the coastal path, ready to be hunted from 12 midday TODAY!

Each egg is numbered and corresponds to a prize on our prize board opposite reception in the pub. The hunt will continue until all eggs have been found.

Prizes range from a complimentary overnight stay, restaurant meals and breakfasts, to bottles of fizz—and of course, plenty of chocolate.

This is always a popular event and not everyone will find an egg. However, you can still get involved—just pop into reception to collect a bucket. If you fill it with litter from the coastal path and return it to us, you’ll be rewarded with a chocolate egg as a thank you for helping keep our coastline clean.

Please note:
• One bucket per family
• If you find more than one egg per person, please re-hide any extras to keep the fun going for others

This is a free event—we don’t profit from it. It’s simply our way of celebrating this beautiful coastline and encouraging everyone to get outside and active over Easter.

Eggs are hidden along the coastal path from this side of the fishermen’s harbour in Brancaster Staithe, all the way to Burnham Overy, near the windmill—covering a vast stretch with incredible views.

All eggs are placed close to the path (not in private gardens), so please hunt responsibly. We’ll also keep you updated daily on how many eggs remain.

Worth noting if you’ll be at the beach over the Easter weekend!

Here are the latest tide times for Wells.
If you’re going to the beach please make sure you know when high tide is and be back on shore FOUR HOURS before that time. Incoming tides are deceptive.
Please follow RNLI advice for keeping yourself safe.

🫵 Always check high tide time before you venture out onto the beach.
🫵 Make sure that you are back on shore FOUR HOURS before high tide.
🫵 Listen out for the siren that sounds four hours before high tide.
🫵 Be aware that the incoming tide flows extremely fast and that the coastal environment can change quickly.
🫵If you get into trouble in the water:

Float to Live
🛟Tilt your head back, with your ears submerged
🛟 Relax and try to breathe normally
🛟 Move your hands and feet to help you stay afloat
🛟 It’s fine if your legs sink, we all float differently
