I love Whitby and Scarborough but it's just the best to come home to Filey.

Filey was recently crowned one of the UK's best seaside towns, beating Whitby and Scarborough. 🤔
Well, this is awkward! It seems Whitby has been beaten by one of its Yorkshire Coast neighbours in a national ranking of Britain’s best seaside towns!
According to a survey by consumer champion Which?, the lovely seaside town of Filey has ranked above both Whitby and Scarborough in its list of the UK’s best coastal destinations for 2026.
And to be fair, we can see why!
With its beautiful sweeping sandy beach, traditional promenade, rock pools, independent shops and stunning coastal scenery, Filey is a fantastic destination for a good old-fashioned British seaside holiday.
The town received four-star ratings for its beach, seafront, scenery and value for money, helping it finish ahead of its two famous Yorkshire Coast neighbours.
From family days out and fish and chips by the sea to peaceful autumn walks along the beach, Filey certainly has plenty going for it.
Now, we absolutely love Filey. In fact, we love the whole of North Yorkshire! ❤️
But better than Whitby? Really?
We might be a tiny bit biased, but surely there’s nowhere quite like Whitby, with its historic harbour, 199 Steps, dramatic Abbey ruins, cobbled streets, Dracula connections, and, of course, those famous fish and chips!
Don’t get us wrong, Filey is wonderful, Scarborough is fantastic, and we’re incredibly lucky to have so many beautiful seaside towns along our coastline.
