It’s been a busy week here on the farm!
With the days getting shorter, we’ve been bringing the cows in and getting them settled into their winter accommodation. There’s plenty to organise, but it’s always satisfying seeing them tucked into fresh straw and happily munching away.
We’ve also been tackling building repairs as there’s always something needing fixed on a farm, and one job usually leads to another! Never a dull moment on the farm!
Out in the fields, we’ve been gathering and sorting the sheep, getting the ewes into their breeding groups and putting the tups in with them. For anyone who doesn’t know, a tup is a ram, and this is the start of the journey towards next spring’s lambs. The boys certainly have a busy few weeks ahead of them! 🐏😉
And if meeting our newest arrivals is your favourite part of spring, keep an eye out… next year’s lambing tours are already on our minds! We’ll share more nearer the time, but the preparations are starting right here in the fields.
There’s plenty to keep us on our toes, with a few jobs stretching beyond daylight, as you’ll see from the photos!
