On June 24, our clients will walk into the Scottish Parliament. They were all prescribed Pfizer’s Depo-Provera. They were never warned about the risks. And now they are demanding answers.

They are not just fighting for compensation. They are calling for a UK-wide review of Depo-Provera, better awareness of the risks among NHS staff, and screening for women with symptoms before it is too late.

Tammy, who lost the sight in one eye after years of using the injection, will chair the meeting. She said:

“Damages are not enough without change. These are women’s lives — mothers, daughters, sisters and aunties — Pfizer is playing with.”

Patrick McGuire, Senior Partner at Thompsons Solicitors Scotland leading the class action against Pfizer, commented:

“For too long this scandal has been hidden from the public. This has to end. Scotland is leading the way — and we believe a UK-wide inquiry could help bring the answers and justice that so many women are calling for.”

Great motion from Chris McGill of branch 503 Warburtons at the annual BFAWU conference.

Conference passed motion 43 UNANIMOUSLY moved by branch 503 which stated “That this conference recognises the real threat of reform in the UK and the political gains they have made since the last general election, and the dangers of the far right encompassed within the party who are infiltrating our communities and workplaces.”

Chris McGill raised the motion on behalf of his branch and he told Conference

“On our streets now we see young angry men. Angry they have no job, can’t get a job or even a doctors appointment. There are the kind of men that are being targeted for recruitment by these neo-nazi groups who drip feed the lie that its all the fault of the migrant people coming here on the boats.”
