A lot of you will have seen Greg around the farm, but for those who haven’t, here’s a proper introduction.

Greg (or Gregory, according to my Mum if he’s being annoying) is her son, right-hand man, and a big part of what keeps Crossgate ticking over.

His job description includes (but are definitely not limited to):

🐔 Catching chickens
🍺 Working behind the bar
🍕 Quality-controlling the food
🚜 Topping, mowing and making silage
🐄 Looking after the cows
🐐 Building obstacle courses for the goats
🔨 Fixing pretty much anything that breaks
🛒 Doing the inevitable last-minute shop run

Basically, if something needs building, fixing, feeding, moving, mowing, fetching or catching, Greg is usually the man for the job.

He’s always there when we need a hand and, in my opinion, is probably the funniest person on the farm too. 😉

🍕 NEW PIZZA MENU IS HERE! 🍕

We’ve been busy working on a few new additions to our hand rolled stone-baked pizza menu…

🔥 The Spicy One
Spicy nduja, pepperoni, chilli oil & Parmesan

🍖 The Meat Feast
Pepperoni, beef, chicken, ham, peppers & onions

🐐 The Honey Goat
Goats cheese, hot honey, olives & rocket

Don’t worry though, we’re keeping some of the classics on the menu too! 🍕

We heard what people were saying, so we’ve decided to keep our lunch menu on rather than switching to pizzas all day.

We’ll also be running a weekly special, and this week’s special is…

🥪 The Crossgate Club Sandwich

What are we trying first? 👇🍕

☀️ We might be a little biased, but we reckon we’ve got one of the best beer gardens in Glossop… maybe even all of Derbyshire! 🍻😍

With panoramic views across the valley, plenty of outdoor seating, great food, cold drinks, and space for the kids to play, it’s the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the sunshine.

🍕 Right then… what are we thinking? 👀

Our stone-baked pizzas have been flying out lately, and we’re seriously considering serving them all day instead of just evenings! 🔥🍕

Would you like to see pizzas available from lunchtime right through until the evening?

We’ve also been busy working on a brand new pizza menu, which will be landing later this week! 😍

More choice, more pizza, and even more reasons to grab a seat, enjoy the view and tuck in. 🍕🍺🌄

Let us know what you’d like to see on the new menu and whether all-day pizzas get your vote! 👇

Three Generations, One Farm ❤️

Pictured here are three generations of women who have each played a part in shaping Crossgate into what it is today.

On the right is my Grandma, Dorothy. Alongside my Grandad, Barrie, she helped build the Cow Shed with their own hands back in 1966. What started as a working farm all those years ago laid the foundations for everything we have today.

In the middle is my Mum, Deborah. When farming became increasingly difficult and diversification became a necessity rather than a choice, she had the vision, determination and hard work to design and develop Crossgate Campsite and The Cow Shed into what they are today. Anyone who knows her knows just how much blood, sweat and tears have gone into making it happen!

And on the left is me, Libby – menu planner, menu developer, occasional problem solver, general helper, and professional “can you just do this while you’re here?” person! 😂

Crossgate isn’t a big company run by strangers. It’s a family business built over generations, with each generation adding their own chapter to the story. From building farm sheds by hand, to creating a campsite and events venue, to helping develop what’s next, we’re incredibly proud of our roots.

Here’s to the past, the present, and hopefully many more years of Crossgate to come. ❤️🐄🏕️

Three generations. One farm. One family story. ✨

Making memories at Crossgate 💚

From feeding the cows at sunset to running around the open fields, it’s the little moments that make camping special 🐄🌅

We hope everyone’s enjoying the sunshine as much as we are!

☀️ FARM LIFE AT CROSSGATE 🐐🐴

There’s never a dull moment here at Crossgate Campsite! From feeding the goats and ponies to taking our cheeky little goats out for walks, the animals are always keeping us entertained 🥰

One of our favourite things is seeing guests — especially the little ones — enjoying time with the animals and making memories out in the countryside ❤️

We’ve also made another little improvement to the goat pen — a slightly easier climbing ramp/ladder for the goats 🐐🙌

We’re now thinking maybe we should hire Finnley out for goat walks… who agrees? 😉🐐

Just another beautiful sunny day on the farm 🌿⛰️

⚠️ A little reminder from us at Crossgate Campsite ⚠️

Please, please keep your dogs on leads around the campsite and surrounding fields. 🐑🐓🦚

We’ve had lots of people say “my dog’s friendly” or “they won’t chase anything”… but sadly we’ve still seen dogs chasing our chickens, peacocks and now local lambs. 💔

These lambs aren’t actually ours, but they are part of our local farming community and seeing them injured is upsetting for everyone involved — especially the farmers who work so hard to care for them.

We love welcoming dogs here, but there can be no exceptions to the lead rule. It’s for the safety of all the animals, wildlife and your pets too.

Thank you to everyone who respects the rules and helps us keep Crossgate a safe and happy place for all 💚

Just to clarify, the lamb in question was NOT ours and the incident did not happen on Crossgate Campsite land. However, it did happen locally in Tintwistle, not far from our farm, which is why we wanted to raise awareness of the very real and preventable risks of dogs being off leads around livestock and wildlife.

Even the friendliest dogs can react unpredictably, and sadly incidents like this can have devastating consequences for local farmers and animals.
