VOTE FOR NORTHUMBERLAND IN 2016 BRITISH TRAVEL AWARDS

Northumberland has been nominated for the Best UK Holiday County/Destination in the prestigious 2016 British Travel Awards (BTAs). The winners will be determined by the public, who have until 30 September to cast their vote.

The 'Best UK Holiday County/Destination' category is particularly strong this year, with Northumberland up against five other nominees: Cornwall, Devon, Pembrokeshire, Somerset and Yorkshire.

Northumberland is the only county in the North East to be nominated, so it is hoped that everybody will get behind Northumberland to bring the Gold 'up north'!

Heard today that some people are suggesting that 2016 will be a bad year for the Hadrian's Wall trail, due to the damage from the recent floods - There is no way that this is the case - THE TRAIL IS OPEN AND EVEN AT THIS TIME OF YEAR, IT IS BEING WALKED. There are some diversions - but David McGlade and his team are doing a brilliant job. See http://www.nationaltrail.co.uk/hadrians-wall-path/plan
