September may have only just begun, but some people are already planning much further ahead than I am.

We still have availability at Seaview during October, when Broad Haven settles into its quieter autumn rhythm. It’s a lovely time for beach walks, days exploring Pembrokeshire and returning to a warm apartment with no pressure to build a sandcastle before tea.

For the particularly organised, our availability is also live up to the end of July 2027. You can see the dates and book directly on our website:

A small but rather pleasing update…

Last week we admitted that our follower count had slipped from 799 to 797. Apparently, taking the mickey out of ourselves was the social media strategy we had been missing, because there are now 805 of you here.

Thank you for following Seaview, commenting on our posts and tolerating the occasional glimpse behind the scenes. We’ll continue sharing Broad Haven, apartment life and the less glamorous realities involving laundry, keys and cups of tea abandoned somewhere between the office and Apartment 5.

Welcome to the new arrivals — we hope you enjoy the view from here.

People sometimes ask whether, after living and working beside Broad Haven beach for so many years, I stop noticing the view.

The honest answer is no.

This is the view from my office window—although, to be entirely accurate, it is the view through a gap in the blinds and over the top of several files that I really must sort out.

I still stop when the light changes, watch particularly dramatic waves for longer than I intended and abandon perfectly sensible tasks when a rainbow appears.

I call this “keeping an eye on conditions for our guests”.

It is a demanding responsibility, but someone has to do it. 😄

What view never loses its appeal for you?

There are certain things no holiday-apartment owner should attempt to work without:

🔑 More keys than any reasonable person ought to carry
📱 A phone that rings when both hands are full
🖊 A pen that was definitely here a moment ago
☕ A cup of tea, usually discovered cold in a completely different apartment
🧺 And the ability to look at a fitted sheet without admitting defeat

After three generations of welcoming visitors to Broad Haven, you might imagine our family would have developed a sophisticated system.

We have. It mainly involves putting the kettle on and asking who last had the keys.

What is the one thing you can never find when you need it?

A few days ago, I noticed that our page had been sitting at 799 followers for quite some time.

I started thinking about what clever post I could write to attract follower number 800.

Then we lost two followers but gained another🤷‍♀️ .

Another triumph for my social media "strategy". 😄

Perhaps I have been concentrating too much on showing you the polished side of Seaview: the sea views, freshly made beds and apartments ready for arriving guests.

In reality, running a holiday business also involves cold cups of tea, keys that were definitely here a minute ago and wondering how sand has reached parts of an apartment that are nowhere near the beach.

So, from now on, I’m going to share a little more of the person—and occasional chaos—behind Seaview.

For those of you still here, thank you. I promise not to check the follower count immediately after posting this.

October in Broad Haven is rather different from August.

The beach is quieter, the walking is cooler and there is far less competition for the best spot from which to watch the waves. You may need a waterproof—but in Pembrokeshire, that can occasionally be said in July too.

Apartments 3 and 5 are currently available between 2 and 23 October, with heating you control, beds made ready for your arrival and the sea just across the road.

If a few peaceful autumn days by the coast sound appealing, you can check dates and book directly here:

Today’s arrival in Apartment 4 is part of a family group staying next door in Rocksdrift House.

It’s a rather useful arrangement for families who want to holiday together: close enough for shared walks, meals and days out, but with separate front doors when everyone has enjoyed quite enough togetherness for one day. 😄

Meanwhile, Apartment 3’s guests are settling into the second week of their stay, and tomorrow we have just Apartment 5 to prepare. A slightly smaller laundry mountain than usual—but we’re not declaring victory until the last bed is made.

Safe travels to everyone joining us in Broad Haven this week.

There comes a point towards the end of August when the sun cream starts sharing space with a waterproof.

Broad Haven doesn’t become any less enjoyable when the weather turns a little more Welsh. It simply becomes a place for quieter walks, dramatic skies, watching the waves from the window and returning to a warm apartment afterwards.

We’re starting to look ahead to autumn breaks—and also making ourselves a list of the photographs we need to take. Apparently, “wet waterproofs hanging by the door” has never featured highly on the summer photography schedule!

August is still very much in full swing in Broad Haven, but our diary is already looking a little further ahead.

We’re now fully booked until 2 October.

October is a rather different sort of Broad Haven holiday. The beach has much more room, the Coast Path is still there waiting, and there’s something very satisfying about coming back from a good walk knowing you can put the kettle on and watch the sea from indoors.

Possibly with something stronger than tea once it reaches a respectable hour. 😊

If an autumn few days by the coast sounds appealing, you can see our October availability here:

A useful one for anyone staying with us this week…

The Pembrokeshire County Show is on at Withybush on Wednesday and Thursday.

It’s one of those proper Pembrokeshire summer days out — livestock, competitions, local businesses, food, displays and rather more tractors than you generally encounter on a normal holiday. 🚜

The gates open at 8am on both days, so if it’s on your holiday list it may be worth making an early start.

And if you’re not going, Broad Haven might just be a little quieter while everyone else heads towards Haverfordwest!
