Unfortunately, due to the Amber Weather Warning currently in place, we have taken the decision to close the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway today.

The severe weather is also making it difficult for some of our team to travel safely to work.

If you have pre-purchased tickets, we will contact you directly, so please bear with us and avoid contacting us where possible while our team works through customer bookings.

Storm forecast for our region over the weekend. Please stay safe out there folks

The Met Office has now issued a Yellow Weather Warning for the arrival of Storm Boelo at the weekend.

Start Saturday 18.00
End Sunday 21.00

The storm is expected to become unusually deep - perhaps as low as a staggering 945MB, and as a result it's strong winds will affect a large portion of the UK.

Most likely winds given current predictions: only a small chance of changes at just 2 days away:

Gusts of 60-100mph are likely in Scotland, 60-70mph in towns and cities, 70-90mph in the countryside, up to and over 100mph on high ground.

Northern England and North Wales. Particularly on the Pennines and also around Manchester North, gusts of 50-60mph on lower levels and up to 90mph on hills, 70-80mph on coasts such as Blackpool. The Isle of Man is looking at 80-90mph.. North Wales, very similar, 60-80mph quite widely.

Travel impacts highly likely through Sunday morning as the storm slowly moves East.

Almost all parts of the UK including the South will see a period of 40-50mph gusts through Saturday afternoon before winds ease a little and severe winds affect Northern areas through Saturday Night into the early hours of Sunday.
