Our Head of Collections, Isobel, has contributed to the recently published History of the Book in Scotland, Volume 1!

Isobel worked on the book as an assistant editor from 2021 up until the final manuscript was sent off to the publisher last year. She also contributed to a chapter in the volume, on university books in the medieval and early modern Scottish universities.

The project was a real labour of love, and it is so exciting to see the finished books! Congratulations, Isobel!

We still have tickets available for Alison Binney's poetry writing Masterclass, taking place this weekend!

πŸ“ This poetry-writing masterclass with Alison Binney asks participants to think about the voices of women from the past. What are they saying? Why are they saying it? How are they saying it? What are others saying about them? How might their voices speak to our lives today?

πŸ’Œ Alison will then provide a range of historical artefacts for participants to work with during the workshop, encouraging people to listen to what these artefacts might be whispering to them, and to craft their own poems inspired by historical sources.

We want to wish everyone taking exams this summer the very best of luck!

It's been wonderful to see so many young people revising in the Library this year. Becoming a Reader (member) of Gladstone's Library is free and available for those aged 16+, and so we regularly find our silent Reading Rooms full in revision periods! We open up additional meeting rooms when possible to help ensure all those looking for a space to study can find one.
