🌮🍹 Penzance Food Festival is on! 🍹🌮

If you’re in West Cornwall this weekend, make sure you head to Penlee Park for the Penzance Food Festival – running today and tomorrow! 🎉

Expect plenty of delicious local food, street food, drinks, live music, cooking demos, workshops and lots of brilliant Cornish producers to discover. Basically, come hungry! 😋

And the best bit? Entry is completely free! 🙌

May availability at Quick’s Cottage, from £493 🌸

Tucked away in a quiet hamlet near Trowan, this traditional granite cottage is all about slowing things down, countryside walks, coastal air, and that easy feeling of being just far enough away from it all.

Step outside and you’re a few hundred yards from the South West Coast Path, with walks leading you towards hidden coves or all the way into St Ives if you fancy it. Or stay local, open the door to the garden, and let the day unfold at its own pace.

Inside, it’s warm and welcoming, log burner lit, snuggled up on the sofa and nothing much to do other than switch off properly.

From £493 for selected May dates, this is one of those stays that suits a quieter kind of break.

A stretch of sand that feels like it goes on forever.

Porthkidney Sands sits just outside St Ives near Lelant, a wide, open beach backed by dunes and rolling greens from West Cornwall Golf Club. Even in busier months, it keeps a quieter feel, with plenty of space for long walks, dog runs, and that proper “off the map” Cornish feeling.

At low tide it opens right up into a vast sweep of sand, perfect for wandering without a plan, just the sea on one side and sky on the other.

Rare May half term availability, right on the beach ☀

17 Barnaloft is one of those places you don’t come across often, set directly above Porthmeor, with uninterrupted sea views from the private balcony, and the kind of position that makes everything feel easy.

Wake up to the sound of the waves, wander down to the sand, and spend the day coming and going as you please. By evening, open the doors, let the sea air drift in, and watch the sun drop straight into the Atlantic.

If you like food with a view, St Ives Food Festival is for you!

Down on Porthminster Beach you’ll find open-fire cooking at the Fire Pit demos with the likes of Jamie Maclean (Mackerel Sky), Nick Evans (Rick Stein’s Cookery School), Natasha Osborne (Bé Café), Dorian Janmaat (Ardor) and more.

May in St Ives hits differently. Longer days, brighter sea, and the whole town slowly spilling back outside again. Cafés open up, beaches fill out, and everything just feels a bit lighter.

And right in the middle of it all, the St Ives Food Festival (15th–17th May) down on Porthminster Beach. Street food, live music, and that easy “stay a bit longer than planned” kind of atmosphere.
