💙 This is why we do what we do.

Last week, we had the joy of welcoming families from Face Everything and Rise to Trevassack Lake. Some stayed with us on site, others joined from nearby, and together they had a full, fun-filled day on the water with our accessible watersports activities.
The message we received afterwards said it all:

Face Everything and Rise is a registered charity supporting individuals living on artificial nutrition or receiving treatment via a central line, as well as their families and friends, with a mental health team on hand too. An incredible community doing vital work.

Some families don’t go on holiday. Not because they don’t want to… because they can’t.

For 21 years, Lizzie and Ian Griffiths built their entire lives around caring for their son Tom.

When their home needed to be turned into a full-time care environment, they faced a problem most places simply don’t solve.

They didn’t need “accessible”.

They needed somewhere that actually worked.

That meant:
– a ceiling track hoist
– a proper wet room
– space for carers
– room to breathe, not just get by

They found Trevassack.

And something shifted.

Tom had his first proper bath in 17 years.
They celebrated birthdays together as a family.
And for the first time in a long time, they could see what life might look like beyond survival.

“It was life-changing. Actually, it was life-saving.”

A lake that runs differently.

At Trevassack Lake you won’t hear petrol engines or boat noise.
Engines aren’t allowed here. Everything on the water is paddle-powered or solar.

Sustainability was designed into the site from the start.

Solar panels power the venue, while ground-source heat pumps in the lake provide heating and hot water for the learning centre. The hot water and heating for the houses are provided by Air Source Heat Pumps.

Buildings were designed to be energy efficient, local construction teams were used to reduce travel impact, and the landscape was carefully restored with wildflowers and natural habitats to support birds, insects, and reptiles.

The lake water is our primary water supply. Natural springs rise through the serpentone stone beneath the lake, and the water is filtered and used across the site – a natural water supply at its best!

Small decisions that protect this place, so future generations can experience the same quiet stretch of water.
