Don’t Lose Your Way Project
Brampton and District Walkers are running their annual Don’t Lose Your Way project during August to ensure that all our parish’s footpaths are walked at least once a year so that we never lose the right to walk them..

We have devised 8 routes and we are asking for volunteers to complete these routes sometime during August. It is possible that you are already walking these footpaths on a daily basis eg. when walking your dog or taking the children to school

On your walk, we would like you to make a note and take a photo of any obstructions or difficulties on the route. Send these to us and we will collate the responses and advise Cumberland County Council of any problems encountered and ask for action to be taken.

The routes can be found on our website at https://bramptonwalkers.wordpress.com/local-walks/

Route A - Main Street, Union Lane via fields to Easby Lane, The Ridge and finishes at The Sands

Route B - Cotehill Lane circular
Starts between 115 and 117 Dacre Road, Cotehill Lane circular and ends on the Longtown Road

Route C - Brampton to Talkin Tarn via The Dandy

Route D - Starts on Newcastle Road goes via Milton into the edge of Miltonrigg Woods with two spurs and back to Station Road via The Dandy

Route E - Stanley Road via Breconhill to Longtown Road with a loop around Oakwood House

Route F - Starts at St Martins Church - Longtown Road to Crooked Holme with a loop around Brampton Old Church and ends back on Longtown Road

Route G - Starts at the Moot Hall and goes via Aaronstown and Gelt Woods back past the Capon Tree monument and down the Five Pund field finishing at St Martin’s church

Route H - Starts at the Moot Hall and goes up Tarn Road and round via Gelt Woods back to the town centre

Please let us know if you would like to take part or if you have any questions by contacting us at [email protected] .

We would also like to hear about any other paths which you are walking in the parish which do not appear on the Definitive Map e.g. from The Ridge down to Lanercost Road.
