The leaves are beginning to turn, the evenings are drawing in, and suddenly Sunday roast season feels very much upon us.

They may never have left the menu, but there is something about the first hint of autumn that makes a proper Sunday roast all the more tempting.

We highly recommend booking ahead, and don’t forget, Sunday Suppers are also served from 6pm.

As you all know, the weather has been unbelievably hot this summer, and we can’t even begin to tell you what it has been like working in the kitchen through some of those temperatures.

Behind every plate that leaves is a team working incredibly hard in conditions that have, at times, been pretty relentless.

Through the heat, the busy services and the long days, our kitchen team have just kept going, cooking, prepping, supporting one another and making sure every dish goes out as it should.

A huge thank you for your hard work, resilience, good humour and continued support. We really couldn’t do what we do without you.

A taste of Somerset, all on one plate.

We’re lucky to have some brilliant producers right on our doorstep. Somerset charcuterie, Buffalicious mozzarella, alongside melons and rocket grown just a few steps from the kitchen in our own market garden. Trouble with our Rocket

It looks effortless on the plate. In the market garden, it is another matter entirely.

After a fair amount of patience, persistence and a few problems along the way, Alasdair finally got our rocket growing beautifully enough to harvest. Good food begins long before it reaches the kitchen.

Whether you're planning an intimate dinner, a family gathering or a larger celebration, we have a range of spaces to suit the occasion, from cosy corners in the bar and our restaurant to a private dining room for something a little more special.

If you're travelling from further afield, why not make a weekend of it? Stay in our beautifully restored Farmhouse or The Smithy, available as self-catering accommodation or on a bed and breakfast basis.

With our own bakery and market garden on site, the beautiful National Trust's Barrington Court just next door, and the rolling South Somerset countryside all around us, The Barrington Boar is the perfect place to gather, celebrate and create lasting memories.

We’re looking for someone with proven kitchen experience who takes pride in great food and would like to be part of our small, busy team here in Barrington, Somerset.
The role includes a competitive salary:
> £34k per year plus share of service charge.
> 3 days off each week
> Training alongside some other exceptionally talented chefs.
> working with fresh produce from our own market garden & bakery.

Our Padrón peppers have been loving the warmth of the polytunnel this summer, and they're now ready to make their way into the kitchen. Freshly picked, simply cooked and full of flavour.

Our first pumpkins of the season are here.

Tucked away in our market garden, they've been quietly growing day by day, and now they're finally ready. A reminder that autumn isn't quite as far away as we'd like to think.

From tiny flowers to generous harvests, it's all part of the rhythm of our garden.
