One of Scotlandโs most fascinating coastal walks youโve probably never heard of ๐๐
Join us on a walk through Culbin Sands Nature Reserve with ๐ฆ where vast dunes meet saltmarsh and views stretch across the Moray Firth to the Black Isleโฆ
But the real surprise? Those wooden poles scattered across the landscape arenโt dead trees. Theyโre Second World War antiโglider poles, installed to stop enemy aircraft landing along this remote coastline. Spanning 9km, theyโre one of just 13 surviving antiโlanding obstacles left in the UK.
Today, Culbin Sands is a haven for wildlife. With rare dunes and saltmarsh, it provides an important home for sea ducks, waders and other coastal species ๐ชถ
๐ Thereโs parking at East Beach (around 40 spaces), plus bike racks for up to 10 bikes. From the car park, itโs a short, flat walk to reach the RSPB reserve - history, wildlife and incredible views, all in one walk.
