Welcome to "South Devon Camping"! Located on the beautiful South Devon coast where the fields roll down to the beaches to meet long stretches of golden sand.

Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and on a working farm, within an easy 10/15 minute stroll of the beautiful South Milton Sands, South Devon Camping is the perfect place to sit back and relax.

The campsite is just a short distance from Hope Cove, Bantham, Bigbury, Salcombe and Kingsbridge.

South Devon Camping is a pop-up, rustic campsite offering essential, yet simple facilities: hot showers (20p a minute), eco loos, kitchen sink areas with hot water (20p), communal fridges/freezers, USB phone charging (foc), fire pit hire and mains water. Pitches are 10m x 10m and there is a large field space for children to play (football goals supplied). Our local village shop and pub (The Village Inn, Thurlestone) are both 2 minutes in the car or a 20 minute walk along the public footpath.

People stay with us because of the Devon views, close proximity to the stunning beaches, our rustic facilities which have a charm of their own, the relaxed atmosphere, our pet animals, the sun sets and walks along the coastal path to Hope Cove and Bantham.

We don't have many rules, electric hookup, caravans, street lights, tarmac, concrete or arcades.

Since 1940 something, and throughout the generations, the farm ("Terawhiti") has been welcoming people to stay and many will return year on year to this special little gem.

Β£25 per night for up to 5 people for a campervan, motorhome or a tent and car combo. Gazebos free. Phone charging free. Use of fridges and freezers, free! Dogs welcome!

And new for 2026, honesty shop supplying our very own farm fresh bbq meat and other produce.

Chasing the tides this week πŸŒŠβš“οΈ

Our creek cruises are running over the next few days while the tides are high enough to explore the hidden waterways and peaceful creeks around Salcombe.

A slower way to see the water, spot wildlife and enjoy the views at its best πŸ’™

Spaces can be limited as we can only run these cruises on the right tides β€” so don’t miss out!

Today mark's our first night of opening for the season and it's always a time when we think of the generations who have gone before us, who ran the campsite on the farm years ago.

We know the farm has been welcoming campers to stay since at least 1948 because Mr Berryman senior has that very recollection, but what we don't know is how early before that campers came to stay, and sadly we will never know either. So today marks at least 78 years of camping at the farm! That's quite some time.

And we are pleased to say that not alot has actually changed! We have updated the "bucket and chuck it" loo which everyone was asked to bring years ago! We now have the very eco long drops, and we also have a little added luxury of hot showers. When we were repeatedly asked to keep camper's beer cold in our own fridge, we decided it was time to add some of those too along with freezers for ice packs. And sadly our lives now revolve around technology, and even when we try to escape it camping, unfortunately we still require a phone, so the USB phone charging points were fitted a couple of years ago for your convenience.

But all this has been created in a rustic manner which gives the site character, charm and a chilled out ambience.

Many guests return year on year, and we still have several families who came to stay with us as children in the 70's, returning with their own families today.

We remain a working farm and our own children are fifth generation.

South Milton Sands remains unspoilt, and still the fields roll down to the beach as they would have done back in 1948.

With turbulent times abroad and alot of uncertainty, first indications are showing that South Devon is going to be in for a busy summer.

If you'd like to come and stay in our little oasis of peace, near the beach, just go to www.southdevoncampingsite.co.uk

We look forward to welcoming you.
