Faith is a regular guest at Seaflowers - coming all the way from Auckland, New Zealand. The fact that she makes the time to come down to Devon when she’s in the UK is a huge effort I never take for granted.

This time she brought her two children Billy and Lexi along to stay too. David Peckham and the Golden Girls made a particularly strong impression on them - as did their scrambled eggs each morning! It was a total joy watching them collect the eggs and hang out with the gals.

Here’s what Faith had to say:

“This was my third stay at Seaflowers, and this time I spent five wonderful nights here with my two children. Once again, it exceeded all expectations.

Suzy is an exceptional host and has genuinely thought of everything. The rooms and house are immaculate, with so many thoughtful touches that make you feel instantly at home. Nothing is too much trouble and Suzy is always quick to respond to any questions or requests.

One of the highlights for my children was meeting the chickens, particularly David Peckham and the Golden Girls, who quickly became firm favourites! We also loved enjoying delicious scrambled eggs each morning, made with fresh eggs from the hens.

The hot tub was the perfect place to relax after slightly chilly days spent on the beach and exploring beautiful Salcombe.

Seaflowers strikes that rare balance of feeling both luxurious and completely welcoming. Every detail has been carefully considered, creating a stay that is comfortable, relaxing and memorable. We had the perfect visit and are already looking forward to returning.”

Thank you Faith - the gals and I miss you already! 🐓🩵✨

When I first took on Seaflowers I made a conscious decision to use the third person. It somehow felt more professional, and I was still doing my corporate day job so it kept a sense of separation.

Except there is no “we”.

Behind every social media post, every guest message and email, every media enquiry, it’s me.

Yes, I have an army of people supporting me - you name it and I’ve got a reliable man or woman for the job (there’s no way I’d survive without them!). Then there’s my incredible local partners for retreats and guest extras, and of course my supportive and long suffering parents. But ultimately, I make every decision and pay every bill.

I’ve poured so much of myself into building the Seaflowers that you see today. It’s my business and my home. Hearing people walk through the door and gasp at the view, laugh around the dinner table or play on the lawn brings me utter joy. And reading your reviews genuinely makes my heart glow.

I left my other job earlier this year, and my business mentor recently pointed out that it’s time to let some old preconceptions go. So I’ve decided to switch it up, stop using “we” and start talking to you as me.

👋 Hi. I’m Suzy, and it’s so very nice to meet you.

One of the great things to come from the Cluckingham Palace build is how clean our eggs are straight from the nesting boxes! No washing necessary, which keeps the shells’ bloom in tact and eggs fresher for longer.

Don’t you just love the array of colours too?

Seaflowers owner Suzy was recently featured in ’s Called to the Coast - a piece about four women who moved to Devon for a different rhythm of life.

In the article Suzy talks about the decision to take on the family business and move to Devon, and the incredibly positive impact that ended up having on her life:

“Before Devon I was a hamster on a corporate wheel. The move gave me the opportunity to build something real of my own. Devon also introduced me to some of the most inspiring, passionate and entrepreneurial individuals I’ve ever met, all drawn here by the same things: the sea, life outdoors, a slower pace.”

Seaflowers gave Suzy the chance to completely redesign her life - and fall in love with Devon in the process.

And it redefined the goal: “I’m learning that you can be softer, more in tune with the seasons and the tides, and still be fired-up about what you’re building. Now success means freedom and connection. Freedom to live life on my own terms.”

Her story might resonate with anyone else who’s felt the pull of the coast. Read it in full in Athena Magazine now. 🩵✨

Yesterday Pat and Ant Greenwood (aka owner Suzy’s parents and previous owners of Seaflowers) had a very exciting day out. They took our green men status to the in Dartington.

Originated in Naples, our statues are a copy from a pair discovered in Herculaneum, which Pat and Ant saw in the Archeological Museum in Naples on their birthday trip to Italy last month.

They are known as The Athletes but are in fact wrestlers. Fun fact - a much larger copy was made for the Calgary Olympics in 1988.

We don’t know who first purchased our green men, but they came into the Greenwood family via Suzy’s great grandfather, who lived in Cork, Ireland. We presume he inherited them, as they would have been bought by someone on a grand tour of Europe around 1800.

Pat and Ant had a wonderful time yesterday meeting Fiona Bruce, who they said was so lovely. We’ll have to wait until the episode airs in September to see Pat, Ant and our statues on the BBC. In the meantime, Suzy is very happy to see them back where they belong, overlooking the Seaflowers lawn!
