A rather fitting title for an island with more than a few stories to tell... 📚

We’re delighted to have been named ‘Best Literary Escape’ by Time Out, celebrating Burgh Island’s long connection with Agatha Christie and the escapism that has drawn guests here for generations. A recognition certainly worth raising a coupe to 🥂

From crossing the water aboard Trundle to the Beach House where Christie wrote, there’s something about Burgh Island that feels as though you’ve stepped straight into the pages of a story.

Winter brings a different kind of magic to Burgh Island ✨

As winter draws closer, the island prepares for another season of celebration. Black tie evenings in the Grand Ballroom, the sound of live music drifting through the hotel and the unique experience of spending the festive season on a tidal island have made Christmas and New Year at Burgh Island a tradition guests return to year after year.

We’ve added an extra date to our Murder Mystery calendar, with a special one-night experience on Thursday 26th November.

The evening begins with cocktails and canapés in Palm Court before the mystery draws you into the Grand Ballroom for dinner, intrigue and a cast of suspicious characters. Dress for the occasion, follow the clues and see if you can uncover the culprit before the night is through.

Your stay includes the full Murder Mystery experience, dinner, overnight accommodation and breakfast the following morning.
