You never know what is going to happen any day, running a hostel.
And owning an old chapel .
Just turning up with grocery shop tonight.
5 coast to coast walking men from Sweden looking for a bed and breakfast..
The hostel can accommodate them , because luckily Rosie Owen had managed to clean all rooms today after a group left this morning…
Every one happy .

🚴‍♂️ 80+ and still cycling 60 miles a day! 🚴‍♂️

What an absolute pleasure it was to welcome this brilliant group of gentlemen to Kirkby Stephen Hostel! ❤️

They’ve been taking on an incredible cycling adventure, starting all the way over at St Bees and making their way across the hills and dales - covering around 60 miles per day!

From St Bees to Silloth, on towards Carlisle, then over Alston and into Kirkby Stephen… and, as they put it, they’d “cycled up and down every hill possible!” 😂⛰️

All aged over 80, their determination, stories and, most importantly, their humour were absolutely brilliant. We loved their accents, their banter and hearing all about their journey so far.

They’ve stayed at a few hostels along the way… but apparently ours was the best! 🥰🏆

What an inspiration you are. 🚴‍♂️💪

It was a pleasure having you stay with us at Kirkby Stephen Hostel, and we hope the rest of your adventure is every bit as memorable.
