Brochs - A broch is a unique, monumental Iron Age drystone roundhouse found only in Scotland. Built around 2,000 years ago, these towering, hollow-walled structures feature thick, double-skinned stone walls with internal stairs, galleries, and cells, and are considered the tallest prehistoric structures in the British Isles.
There are several around this area - some in a better state of repair than others but all are great places to visit with often advantageous positions and great views.
The third photo shows an artists impression of what they looked like in the full splendour.
