The food for all our special events here is cooked by Felice, who has worked with us for years and knows this kitchen and how an evening should run.

Tell us what you would like to eat and we organise it for you. That is one fewer thing on your list in the busiest month of the year.

Last year we saw a different trend for Christmas parties. Not just food and drink - although there was plenty of that - but events that included activities.

We have had casinos, ceilidhs, terrarium making workshops, wreath making and hilarious Hell's Kitchen competitions.

It is nearly a year since we lost our beloved Jake and we still feel his loss keenly.

However, we now have Tommy in our lives and he has banished the loneliness we felt without having a furry friend around. He is younger and more boisterous than Jake but shares the same sweet disposition and is a loving, friendly little pal much loved by everyone who meets him.

And he has turned out to be an excellent guard dog when he is not relaxing!

More than half the year has gone, which means some people are already thinking about Christmas.

We are taking bookings for company dinners in the Saw Mill and the Dutch Barn, through to 19 December. Food cooked by an award-winning local chef, a licence until midnight, and the whole place to yourselves.

If your workplace has not booked anywhere yet, get in touch.

I have been making soup for lunch every day this week. It's that kind of weather, isn't it? Leek and potato is on the menu today. It was cream of celeriac yesterday.

As I was stirring, I started to think about the days when the cafe was open and I would get up early to make the food for lunch.

One delightful couple particularly liked my soup and I would love to know how they are faring and where they go these days for a bite to eat and a chat. If anyone knows Susan and Horace from West Malvern, please pass on my love.

We are looking forward to seeing some familiar faces at some of the events we have planned in the run up to Christmas. First off is our vintage sale on 31st October, followed the paperwhite planting, a doggy meet up and Tina's wreath workshops. Oh, and don't forget that you can come and learn how to make stained glass ornaments with Belinda.

See you soon!

We are taking bookings for Christmas parties in the barns, up until to 19 December.

Company dinners, or a group of friends who have decided this year they will do it properly. Both work, and both get the whole place to themselves.

Dates are starting to fill up now so get in touch soon: bartoncourt.co.uk/contact

People ask how a party actually works across our two barns.

The flow we suggest is this: arrivals and drinks in the Saw Mill, dinner in the Dutch Barn, then back into the Saw Mill afterwards for drinks and more conversation while the other room is turned round for dancing.

Up to 95 sitting down. bartoncourt.co.uk/contact

Looking for the right venue to celebrate a life? We, Barton Court, pride ourselves on offering a discrete and empathetic environment either in the barns or the Manor House.

Did you know that we hold celebrations of life here at Barton Court?

There is a growing trend in postponing what used to be called a 'wake' until some time has elapsed after the loss of a loved one.

Organising an event when you are grieving can be an unwelcome additional stress so we try to relieve you of as much of that burden as we can.

Depending on numbers etc, you can use one of our barns or the Manor House (as you can see here in the photo). You can relax, chat and reminisce, play music, do whatever you feel is appropriate to remember your relative or friend. We will organise all the food, drinks and any other facilities that you need.

In the sad eventuality that you find yourselves needing this service, please just get in touch.
