On Friday 12 June, Heathfield and St Francis Schools hosted a wonderful Summer Family Picnic, supported by the Rotary Clubs of Whiteley, Fareham and Gosport as part of Rotary Children’s Fun Day.
This national initiative creates positive experiences for some of the UK’s most vulnerable children, and the day truly delivered. Families enjoyed a safe, welcoming environment filled with fun activities—from animal encounters and circus skills to ceramics, swing boats and games—along with ice cream and refreshments.
The event was especially meaningful for families who don’t often access community outings, giving them a chance to relax and connect in a supportive setting. Pupils also built confidence, tried new things, and created lasting memories—one even tasting (and loving!) strawberry ice cream for the first time.
A huge thank you to the dedicated school staff whose hard work made the day so special. As one child said the next day: “It was the best day.”
