If you're in the area this week and fancy wrapping up warm for a proper Bonfire Night, here's one for your diary!

The lovely people at Wensleydale Round Table are hosting their annual bonfire and fireworks display at The Shawl in Leyburn.

📅 Thursday 5th November
🔥 Bonfire at 6.30pm
🎆 Fireworks at 7pm

It's a free community event, with donations welcome to help support the organisers.
A lovely excuse to get the family together, wrap up in your winter woollies and enjoy an evening out while supporting a local event.

And just like that, another touring season at Street Head has come to an end!

A huge thank you to everyone who has stayed with us this year, whether it was your first visit, you're one of our lovely regulars or you've simply followed along with us here.

Our touring site is now closed for the winter, but Street Head isn't closing completely!
Our static caravan is still available to hire for a break in the Dales, and our Bunkhouse remains open all year round, offering group accommodation for walking weekends, family get-togethers and trips away with friends.

Things might get a little quieter around here over winter, but there's still plenty happening in the background, and we'll still be popping up here to share bits and pieces with you.

For now though, thank you for another season at Street Head. We really do appreciate your continued support. 💚

Some places are worth seeing whatever the season and Aysgarth Falls is definitely one of them.

The River Ure tumbles over three stepped waterfalls here, surrounded by woodland and after plenty of rain, they can be particularly impressive.

It’s one of those places that can look completely different depending on when you visit. Sometimes calm and peaceful, sometimes absolutely thundering through!

There are paths through the surrounding woodland too, so it’s well worth allowing yourself some time for a wander rather than just stopping for a quick photo....And for a little bit of Yorkshire trivia, Aysgarth Falls even appeared in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.

Definitely one for the list when you’re exploring Wensleydale.

There’s something really special about hearing that someone has visited Street Head time and time again and is now making memories here with the next generation. 🥰

From the peace and quiet (and plenty of sheep! 🐑) to having so many brilliant places to explore nearby, we love hearing what keeps people coming back.

If you’re heading into Leyburn during your stay, Fine Art Auctioneers and The Garden Rooms at Tennants are definitely worth knowing about.

You might know Tennants for its auctions, with everything from antiques and interiors to jewellery, watches, art and some seriously special pieces passing through the salerooms. But there’s much more happening there than auctions.

The Garden Rooms, right alongside the auction house, host a changing programme of exhibitions, concerts, talks, workshops, fairs and other events, as well as having galleries, a café, bistro and gift shop.

So one visit could mean browsing an exhibition, seeing what’s coming up for auction, catching a show or simply stopping for coffee and cake. And because there’s plenty happening throughout the year, it’s another good one to remember as we head into the quieter months.

Have a look at their current programme before you visit, you never know what might be on!

The views might be one of the first things you notice when you arrive at Street Head…but we know the practical bits matter just as much when you’re staying on a campsite!

Clean, modern shower and toilet facilities, electric hook-ups, washing-up facilities and a fridge and freezer for food and ice packs, all those little things that make life on site a bit easier.

Nothing complicated. Just a site that’s looked after and has what you need so you can get on with enjoying your stay. 💚

If you had a completely free autumn day in the Yorkshire Dales, how would you choose to spend your time?

🥾 A long walk?
🍺 A trip to the pub?
🚗 A drive through the Dales with a few stops along the way?
☕ A wander around Hawes and somewhere for coffee and cake?
🌿 Or absolutely no plans whatsoever?

Sometimes getting away doesn’t need a packed itinerary, just being somewhere different for a couple of days is enough.

While things gradually start winding down on the main site, there’s one part of Street Head that doesn’t close for winter…Our Bunkhouse accommodation is available all year round. 💚

It’s a great option for walking groups, cycling weekends, family get-togethers or simply a group of friends wanting a few days together in the Dales.

There’s something lovely about the Dales at this time of year.
The colours are changing, the mornings have that proper autumn chill to them, and everything starts to feel just a little bit quieter.

We’ve still got a few weeks left of our main season here at Street Head, with the touring site open until 31st October, so there’s still time for an autumn trip before the season comes to an end.

Walking boots, an extra layer and perhaps a pub stop somewhere along the way sounds about right to us!
