WOULD YOU EAT YOUR CHEESEBOARD 40FT DOWN A YORKSHIRE GORGE? 😳🧀
Forget a table by the fire… this might be one of the most unusual places to eat in Yorkshire.
At How Stean Gorge, near Lofthouse in Nidderdale, adventurous visitors can descend around 40ft into the limestone gorge before sitting down at a suspended table for a Yorkshire cheeseboard.
Yes. That really is the table.
The brilliantly named “Ledge ’n Dairy” combines an abseiling adventure with locally sourced Yorkshire cheeses, crackers, chutneys and fruit — with a small glass of port thrown in for good measure.
And the setting is pretty spectacular.
How Stean is a dramatic limestone gorge carved out by water over thousands of years, hidden away in the upper reaches of Nidderdale.
The experience is running on selected dates this autumn, with prices starting from £60 for two people.
It might also be the most Yorkshire incentive imaginable to get somebody down a cliff:
“There’s cheese at the bottom.”
So, be truthful…
Would you happily sit down here for your cheeseboard?
Or are you staying firmly at the top and sending someone else down for the Wensleydale?
