I was reading Guy Shrubsoles book called “ The lost rainforests of Britain “ last night and its a fascinating read… learning about the huge swathe of land stretching from Scotland,to the Lake District to the Brecon Beacons down to Cornwall ,that was once a huge rainforest on the west coast. The remnants of these forests that still exist hold an very important ecosystem full of rare ferns ,mosses ,Epiphytes ,Lichens and fungi… Protecting these areas is essential. We have a great project planting a new forest in a 5 acre field ,to link to the ancient forest. Each year we are adding trees to this area hoping oneday it will be part of the Rainforest. This is the 7th year of building the forest. Its exciting seeing trees maturing.
