🐾🏡 Another group enjoying the whole site this weekend…

This weekend we’re delighted to be welcoming Trailing K9s back to Mid Wales Holidays.

In fact, this is one of many bookings they’ve made with us over the years and already their third visit of the year with 2 more to come — which I think says a lot about what makes this place special.

🌄 One of our favourite places to visit… Elan Valley

If you’re staying with us and fancy a day out, the Elan Valley is an absolute must.

Just a short drive away, it’s one of those places that never gets old huge open landscapes, stunning reservoirs, and some of the best walking routes in Mid Wales.

You can:
🚶‍♀️ Walk or cycle around the dams
🐾 Let the dogs enjoy miles of fresh air
📸 Take in the views (and you’ll want to trust me)
☕ Stop at the visitor centre for a coffee

It’s peaceful, dramatic, and feels a world away from everything, even though it’s right on your doorstep.

Perfect for a full day out… or just a slow wander and a breath of fresh air.

🌿 A couple of little gaps coming up…

Not many as most of the calendar is now filled with gundog holidays and group bookings, but I do have a few spaces over the next few weeks.

🌿 I didn’t fully realise this when I started…

But what people seem to value most about staying here isn’t just the cottages.

It’s the space.

The quiet.
The lack of neighbours.
The ability to just be without noise, pressure or distraction.

I see it all the time.
People arrive busy, slightly frazzled…
and leave slower, calmer, clearer.

🌿 Not everything has to be a big trip…

Sometimes you just need a couple of nights somewhere quiet.
No plans. No pressure. Just a change of scene.

A walk in the morning.
A coffee with a view.
Dogs tired from fresh air.
And that feeling of properly switching off.

Even though we host lots of training groups here, the cottages are always open for simple, peaceful stays too.

Although you’ll often see Mid Wales Holidays being used for dog training holidays and group bookings, the cottages are still very much available to rent on their own too.

You don’t need to be attending a course or bringing a group.

You can simply come and enjoy:

🌿 Meet the person behind Mid Wales Holidays…

I’m Collette the host, owner, and usually the one you’ll find out in the fields in wellies

I moved here in 2020 with my two children, and what started as a big life change has grown into something I’m incredibly proud of

These days I run:
🏡 Two holiday cottages
🌿 Manage 15 acres of land - fields, woodland & ponds
🐾 My gundog training business, Completely Gundogs
🖥️ Dog Pro Solutions business with my eldest son Aidan

And of course, life revolves around my dogs - 5 Labradors (3 homebred) and Rosie the Chihuahua who definitely keeps things interesting

🐾 A bit of my background…

My journey with dogs started thanks to one very special Labrador, Benji 💛

That led to my first business, Lead and Listen, which grew from dog walking into a full training business with a team, something I later sold when I moved to Wales. It’s still going strong now, which I’m so proud of.

🌿 Where things are heading now…

Mid Wales Holidays has grown into so much more than just a place to stay.

With the addition of our new barn space Ysgubor, I’m now focusing on creating a space for:
✨ Dog training holidays
✨ Retreats
✨ Groups wanting to hire the whole place

Alongside this, Completely Gundogs continues to grow, and I’m excited to be supported by other trainers so I can keep developing new ideas and opportunities.

Dog Pro Solutions is quietly growing in the background and I’m enjoying working on this project with my son.

🌊 Life outside of work…

When I’m not here, you’ll often find me out exploring in my camper, paddleboarding, or chasing waves with my partner Andy.

Van life, SUP surfing, and getting out into new places has become a big part of how I recharge, reset and get inspired and it’s something I’m bringing more and more into the way I live and work.

🐾 Life here…

You’ll still find me out working my dogs regularly through the season something I’m hugely passionate about and making the most of the land we’re lucky enough to have.

💛 A little mantra I live by…

Keep growing. Keep learning. Keep saying yes to opportunities.
Life’s too short to wait for things to find you - go and create them.
