We recently had our annual water treatment service carried out. We are on a bore hole, to ensure top quality drinking water we have a public water treatment works. It's all cleaned now and good for another 12 months

Small Breeds Farm Park

Hello everyone, i am visiting small breeds in Kington today, it's about 25 miles away from our lodges, as you can see it features accessible pathways, accessible toilets, accessible cafe. It's mostly under cover so good in all weathers. Carer gets in for half price with the disabled guests . It's well worth a visit and if you ring ahead you can park by the main entrance. There are rabbits, goats, pigs, owls, sheep, deer, red squirrels and an aviary. Contact small breeds before visiting is recommended 01544 231109 cheers Richard

I was extremely disappointed at the awards, business is not just about money and profits. Businesses have a moral and ethical responsibility to give back to their communities. Unfortunately most Able-bodied people don't realise that 1 in 6 people in the UK are disabled or live with a disability. Most Able-bodied people don't understand that for people with disabilities life isn't just hard it's often a battle to survive day to day. Society often makes a big noise about supporting people with disabilities but it's not back up by action. I broke my back paragliding in France 17 years ago, I didn't sit in a wheelchair and feel sorry for myself, I got up , exercising constantly, went back to work and built the lodges over 11 years. These lodges are unique in the world, they provide fully accessible accommodation for nearly all types of physical disabilities and for many other types of disabilities. Less than 1 in 10000 accommodation units is fully accessible. I feel the judges just didn't understand the significance of what we have achieved here. No one who is disabled to my knowledge has built fully accessible accommodation especially not 3 units after an injury themselves and as horticultralists we aren't builders. If there was a criteria for entrepreneurial award, I can't think of anything that would qualify better. We are adding a sensory garden and an accessible game's room, i told the judges this. Powys wants to be a global leader in innovation and business. Honestly ask yourself what could be better, our lodges allow societies most vulnerable people to have inclusive holidays. Something Able-bodied people take for granted. I am very disappointed in the narrow view the awards took. Maybe you might want to consider what i have said, disability can happen to anyone at anytime often without warning. Cheers Richard

Hello everyone, last night we were finalists at a local business awards ceremony. Unfortunately we didn't win our category, the aim of entering was to promote accessible accommodation which as everyone who is disabled knows is in a desperately short supply. I personally feel that the majority of society still seems to think and believe that disabled people aren't wanting to have holidays. This as you would all understand is utterly nonsense. It's terrible being disabled but it's unforgivable that society doesn't yet make adequate provision for accessible accommodation. We at midwaleslodges.co.uk continously fight to change this situation through education and engagement with society as a whole. People who have read my story or who follow us know how i became disabled. The fight carries on , hopefully one day there will be adequate provision for accessible accommodation in the UK and the world, thanks for reading cheers Richard
