Dog-friendly holiday cottage on Anglesey. Close to Rhosneigr & beaches. Sleeps 7 (+2) humans in 4 bed A car is an optional extra - we don't have one!

Our house on Anglesey is an end-terrace with four bedrooms and two reception rooms in the tiny village of Llanfaelog. Situated just outside the popular resort of Rhosneigr, the house offers the best of both worlds - close to Rhosneigr's three beaches, cafés, pubs and convenience stores, but far enough away to have space, privacy and tranquility. The area is perfect for beaches (of every kind!), walking, birdwatching, plane watching and simply relaxing. The train station is a 15 min walk from the house and you can get all-day rover tickets for trains and buses. Public transport on Anglesey is not like in the big cities - you have to plan your journeys carefully, but we often have day-trips round the island. Having said that, Rhosneigr is a stunningly beautiful place and we quite happily spend our days pottering round the beaches without getting bored! Prices range from £350 to £950per week and we're happy to take short breaks off-peak, or even in school holidays if they are short notice - just ask! We spend a lot of time in Anglesey with our dog, Rosie, so will post our photos, and recommendations of where to go. We will also use Facebook for offers - like our page so you don't miss out! We got Rosie from Helping Yorkshire Poundies after our 14 year old dog, Gypsy, died and are eternally grateful to them for matching us with her. She loves Anglesey too, and as a thank you, we donate £10 from every booking to them.

ROXY’S LASTING LEGACY 🐾❤️

Losing a dog is a deeply emotional subject, but we wanted to share an option we discovered when we had to say goodbye to Roxy. We hadn't known of its existence before and think it deserves a bit of publicity.

When Roxy received her sudden bone cancer diagnosis, we knew we wanted her to pass peacefully at home. We were lucky to find the wonderful Pets at Rest Veterinary Care in Sheffield, and the kind, gentle care we and Roxy received in her final hour is probably the reason we were emotionally strong enough to give Bear a home so soon.

While looking through their website deciding to choose them, we discovered the Veterinary Education Pet Gifting Programme. It allows owners to donate their dog's body to veterinary science to help train the next generation of vets.

Initially, Ian’s reaction was, "I don't think I like that idea."

It’s a very instinctive response... I was only 50/50 myself. But the seed was planted in both our heads.

By the next day, we both realised the idea comforted us. Over decades of owning dogs, we have relied on the skills of incredible vets. With Roxy in particular, the ones on Anglesey who saved her from an adder bite, and the combined care of vets in both Sheffield and Rotherham who were involved with emergency treatment when her leg broke, and the subsequent diagnosis of the tumour.

Without hands-on training, these vets couldn't do their vital work. Donating Roxy felt like our way of paying it forward to future pet owners.

Additionally, if you choose not to have an individual cremation with the ashes returned to you, the program donates £70 to a charity of your choice.

As I didn't keep the ashes of my first dog, I've always felt it would be wrong to keep the ashes of subsequent ones. I've loved them all equally. Roxy came to us from RADAR rescue, so it seemed right that this went to them to help more dogs like her. Paying it forward twice.

We received a lovely card from them afterwards, which caused a few more tears, but also brought a sense of peace.

Roxy’s memory lives on, not just in our hearts, but in the future of veterinary care. A wonderful legacy for a dog who lived life to the full, right up to her cheese-snaffling final sleep. 🐾💕

🐾 MEET BEAR 🐾

As you know, our dogs have always been the true Face of Rehoboth Terrace. After losing Roxy so suddenly, we thought our advertising department would be vacant for quite a while.

However, a rather lovely turn of events brought us a new helper earlier than planned!

Before Roxy died, one of our regular guests was fostering a puppy, rescued at just 5 weeks old during a puppy farm raid. As he grew, she realised he needed a quieter home environment and active owners who could match his potential... and thought of us!

Had she contacted us then, we'd have had to say no (the logistics of managing 2 big dogs on trains!). However, Bear threw a spanner into the works (and lots of blood!) by splitting his tail from wagging it too much 🙄. So she decided to wait until it healed.

Then, just as she was about to contact us, she saw our awful news about Roxy 😭 In the end, she decided to still message us, with no pressure, just to let us know the opportunity existed.

We took some time to think about it, but knew we would be taking on another rescue soon anyway, and Bear felt a bit like he was meant to be 🐾

Bear is now 19 weeks old and has been with us for nearly 2 weeks. He is some kind of collie/sighthound cross, and we think he'll grow to a perfect train-travelling size, right between Rosie (20kg) and Roxy (30kg).

Currently, he is mostly made of legs, teeth, and some truly magnificent ears that we think Roxy would definitely approve of!!

It will be a while before he visits Anglesey (we want to ensure there is a house left for you to enjoy, after all!), so our ads will still feature Roxy while he learns the ropes!

He has a lot of collie focus and intelligence, however, so I doubt it will be that long before he's running the business!!

ROXY: Aug 2016 to Aug 2026
(adopted Feb 2024)

Today we had to say goodbye to the beautiful, funny, clever, force of nature, that was Roxy. Hard to know what to say as words are just not enough. Life will be very dull without her unique spark.

It has been quite a shocking week. She was on strict rest as we were at the beginning of an investigation into a slight limp which we feared would turn out to be a partial cruciate ligament tear.

The cooler morning we had last Saturday brought out her unstoppable enthusiasm for life and she had a brief case of zoomies in our small garden, which ended in her collapsing and screaming 😭😭😭

Xrays showed it was even more serious than that. She had bone cancer and her leg was so compromised by the tumour that it had fractured.

With the really poor prognosis of such an aggressive cancer, and with her leg not being fixable, we made the hardest decision to put her to sleep.

We had her home and relatively comfortable on pain relief for the last few days, which have been filled with so much love from us and her extended family. And LOTS of treats (possibly the bit she enjoyed best!).

She went peacefully at home after devouring cheese brought by the lovely vet who came to help us say goodbye. Her final few minutes of consciousness were very very happy.

Gone far too soon. Never ever forgotten.

Wishing a happy Father's Day to a special sparrow!

I've been watching for a few days now. This sparrow is taking sole care of his babies and being a great dad! No female has been helping, and he's been seeing off other sparrows. I watched for ages today and he even seemed to make sure all his babies got their fare share - one seems a little more forward!! There are definitely 2, but in one photo I think I can see 3 beaks. They've been too little to see before today, but are definitely growing fast!

One thing I love about our house is that you don't have to leave to watch nature - it's right here!
