A sustainability certification programme for accommodation. Travelife is an international sustainability certification scheme for accommodation providers.

We help them to improve how they manage their environmental and social impacts, such as reducing their energy or water consumption, and ensuring they support local people, businesses and culture. Accommodations that prove they meet the Travelife Certification Requirements achieve Travelife Certification to promote their status.

Did you know tomorrow is World Day Against Child Labour?

Travelife Certified properties must follow national laws and where these fall short, international standards to ensure no child is exposed to unsafe or inappropriate work. This includes direct staff, temporary roles, and anyone working through subcontractors.

Use of local traditions regarding materials, design and construction methods not only helps keep these traditions alive but in many cases, using local materials and methods is more sustainable than using imported concrete or wood.

Through their daily operations, they must ensure they respect local ecosystems and natural habitats, have a written statement that describes their commitment to protecting and supporting biodiversity and advise guests to avoid any activities that may harm animals or their habitats.

Together, these actions help support the continuous mission to protect the biodiversity in their area.

Earlier this week, we marked World Intellectual Property Day.

Did You Know? Cultural IP (intellectual property) includes design, art, music, skills, dress and innovations that have been uniquely conceived by a single cultural group.

Travelife requires certified properties to be mindful of the types of Cultural IP in its guest experience and, where necessary, credit it appropriately.
